Apologies as I imagine this topic has been covered to death but surprisingly searches did not prove fruitful.

I have an ipad 1, I want to stick some avi's on it, take it downstairs to the gym and cycle or run to my hearts content. Now from my own horrid searching I seem to have discovered that I cannot simply transfer files via usb to my ipad. My solution was to upload to dropbox but this is horrendously slow. Not only this but I have now discovered I need to convert my avi's to a different format before I can play them on the ipad, is this correct?

So is there a relatively fast way of going through this process. Or is the quickest way to convert it then add it to the ipad through itunes?

They really spanked the user friendliness out of this one!

VLC app, then in iTunes under the App tab near the bottom you'll see an option to load files on to VLC app and there you can select the avi's.

Not up on what the playback is on all avi's, I guess if its a high bit rate you might struggle, but 700mb+ type films should play fine.

Or just use handbrake to convert them all in a batch and automatically add them to itunes.

Hasn't the vlc app been pulled?

I use Videora iPad Converter which is pretty simple bar the weird explorer type UI. But of course you need a bit of time on your hands for it to convert.
VLC seems to do a good job at simple drag and drops also.

Hi guys,

apologies for the massively late response but I just wanted to say thank you for the advice of getting myself AVPlayerHD, it is an absolute god send and does exactly what I need it to and most importantly, with speed!

Thank you very much
