I bet there's a GSM version soon enough. (Is that the new Samsung 16mp shooter in the HTC?)

do you mean their skins and update schedules?

Yep, both the UI (Stock gingerbread with lots of nice 'ICS' features and minimal bloat, which can be removed) and updates (regular schedule and feature rich) are great.

I've kept everything stock on the Arc, even the launcher. All they need to do is start executing with newer hardware and stop using cheap plastic :D (and sort out their services into something more cohesive like iTunes/Zune/Amazon store)

To be fair 720p in a 4.3" screen is a fairly big selling point. Sony screens are among the best LCDs already and I'd be reasonably surprised to see anyone else come out with a 720p 4.3" flagship model as Samsung seem to be shifting to bigger and bigger phones every year. Dual core is disappointing though.

Samsung won't go beyond 4.3", they simply can't. Anything more is too big for a mainstream flagship device.

what special features have theu added to the os?

I didn't like their blue theme at all at the launcher and widgets were meh.

the screen on the arc was ok I guess - seemed like tn panels though and the viewing angles were shocking.

no way - LG's ips screens in the iphone and optimus 2x poo-poo all over it.

When oh when will windows phone support multiple resolutions, 4.7" is too big for 800x480 :(.

When it gets to 8.

800*480 was high end when WP7 came out but now it's turned from a great advantage into an awful hinderance. It can't be that hard for Microsoft to make the UI work at 720p as well...

Here's a few features already included. http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2011/12/13/xperia%E2%84%A2-smartphones-bring-future-experiences-already-today/
Don't forget Sony Ericsson are one of the main contributors to ASOP (unlike HTC/Motorola).

The screen is lovely to use with the bonded front glass and circular polariser, it makes the screen feel expensive, view angles are good enough too.
I'd probably take a decent LG IPS panel but it's less useful without those extra features.

4.6" is the new 4.3" for 2012? The Sony Ion has a 4.6" 720p screen (US version of the Xperia S).

HTC have been using the same panel in the Rezound since November (without the Reality/Bravia features)

Ugh Samsung are so dead. Nobody there cares about TVs and their 'jokes' are falling flat constantly...

I normally hate apple with a vengeance, but this 'pushing boundaries' stuff is just laughable...

Are you serious? This isn't where they showcase their cutting edge phones, they are a electronics company and so will demonstrate new products at CES......

The dual core Samsung 55 inch TV that can play any of their 1000 + apps. Do want.

I mean, they'll show the rest of their products instead of mobile phones because they don't just make phones you know ;)
