Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City

how is it more like the old resident evil games?

The trailer is I mean, watch the RE2 and RE3 opening videos and you will see what I mean. Far more like the old resident evil games than RE5.

The game itself doesn't really interest me. Although saying that I might pick it up cheap at some point in the distant future,.

Doesn't look like the old Resi I loved at all. The old games were about atmosphere and surprises round each corner. That vid looked like [Modern Warfare/insert own generic multiplayer shooter here] with some zombies.

Do remember that this is only a spin-off game, so anyone who cares about the canon and all that shouldn't be too worried.

If this game becomes decent enough, then I don't mind.

Afterall, the next major upcoming canon game is RE: Revelations for the 3DS.

Well said.

My interest in the actual story pretty much ended after RE2 anyhow tbh.

I mean really, if anyone knows their Resident Evil history, remember the Survivor and Outbreak series? And also the Chronicles series on the Wii?

This new game should hardly be any surprise if it is too different from the norm.

I could not get used to RE5 at all.

Personally, I did not like the control system.

Any gameplay vids of this yet?

Likewise… Its 2012, standing there glued to the spot when you aim your weapon and not being able to run n shoot at the same time is insane if you ask me. I had RE5 both for the PC and PS3.. I got RE5 for the PC in a steam sale for less then a tenner, couldn’t get on with the controls, decided to give RE5 gold edition on the PS3 a go with a move controller.. OMG, even worse, woeful control and ditched the game.

The whole shooting and moving mechanics of the series needs an overhaul, it worked out ok for RE1 and 2, thsoe games were all about shock, atmosphere etc however being forced to aim, shoot, drop weapon, move aim, shoot and so on its just so stupid IMO for todays RE games..Unless this is going back to roots, then ok.. Could be good.

I actually really like the Move controller in RE5, took a little while to get used to as started on the standard controller, but once that was done I found it great :)

I believe that the series needs to go back to its RE1/2/3/Code Veronica roots, with fixed camera positions etc as it made the game a lot more atmospheric. Don't get me wrong, RE4 was a fantastic game and one of my favourite PS2 titles but I really love that claustrophobic feeling from the original.

18th May not long to go now & selling quite well on Steam (went into the top 10 a few times which is good for this type of game nowadays especially as its only a pre-order:eek:) I think it will outsell the console versions as co-op based horror zombie squad based FPS is more PC territory anyway ;) its set around iconic locations from RE2+3 so those will be good to see in 3D on a recent game engine :D you can still play SP based content on your own with squad AI though (if you have no mates!!).

Capcom just did a mini FAQ & PC comes with some DX11 enhancements as well as Nvidia 3D.

Yeah, I'm disappointed as well. I was really hyped for this game as a buffer to Resi 6 then all the bad reviews came in after the console release :/

Don't get too excited AWPC this game is going to flop big time, some are saying it's the worst Capcom release they've played!

Do not think the PC version is that bad at all a lot of the negativity is from the same console players who hated Lost Planet2 as that was co-op based (its one of the best games of its type ever made IMO).

As people will actually have to buy the game & cannot pirate & play online that usually attracts a lot of negative feedback ;)
