WHEN WILL HARD DRIVES REDUCE IN PRICE!!

There are some estimated 9 million people affected by the severe flooding that has caused serious damage across south-east Asia and all you care about is the price of hard drives?

I personally think by next year costs will go back to normal. I don't think anyone here can say for certain when. However by next year, I am hoping to see more people using SSDs for performance. Mechanical hard drives are still great for mass storage which is a shame to see the costs risen but it is one of those things.

Gaming systems in general tend to be sold mainly with SSDs now, the end of 2011 SSDs were popular. I can see them being even more popular this year.

Give it a rest. Should we just stop our lives and start crying for these people instead?

It's a legitimate question that has been asked, a query about price drops does not make someone a bad person.

There are a million other problems in the world. Should we just stop all forum posting until they are resolved?

Quote like this annoy me, If you ask me there was some estimated 9 million people living in the wrong place at the wrong time, I dont give a rats arse about what going on in other peoples lifes I like the op want the prices of HDD to come back down..

You can already find HDDs around the interweb at 2 TB around £80-£85. So prices are already dropping. I think you'll find prices going to drop quite quickly throughout the spring.

I can? Oh i clearly cant use google anymore :( I think ill quit now

Wow - some very OTT comments

I can't see how someone looking at the price flow of HD's can be reprimanded for not caring about 9m people in a flood stricken area.

C'mon grumpy! :-)

Everyone needs storage - regardless of SSD speed for OS/progs.... I am holding off a HTPC build until I can get 3TB+ at a decent price. My Blu-Ray Rips decimate my storage!

2tb western digital, in particular the caviar green, is available for £100 for moderately reputable places, or £90 from places I haven't heard of. £120 from ocuk.

Prices are changing fast though, I expect ocuk to be back in the middle of the pack soon enough. Old stock is a bad thing in such circumstances, no one wants to sell product at a loss because the market value has fallen.

More embarrassing is the 3tb WD drive for £150 some places, and £190 on here...

AS the title says!

Some have dropped considerably! Different retailers are dropping prices based on their suppliers. Once the supplier is inundated with HDD, they will in turn inundate the retailer with HDD who will in turn price down the HDD - such is the case with every product.
