I have found the scene stale and stagnant for a while, Consoles have reached their upper tier in graphics for this gen now, So just need to revert back to some more solid story like it used to be. Since the graphcis can no longer dazzle and astonish us. I suppose it depends what you expect from your console.
Main reason it was called X360 and not X2 because its competitor was the PS3 - supposedly matters (c.f. nVidia changing their generation names to match AMD ATM). So agreed its unlikely to be numbered at all...I doubt that the next Xbox will have a number in the name at all. They won't sell an Xbox 3, partly because it'll be next to a Playstation 4, and partly because the previous one being called the 360 makes the 3 sound crap in comparison. I can't think of another name followed by a number which they could get away with, without it sounding ridiculous.
LOL at whoever said 1080p @ 60FPS
Im not saying its not obtainable, but the next consoles wont have that as a minimum standard, too many developers that just wouldnt be interested in the extra effort. Just look at how DX11 was received over DX10 - what were the first uses of it (for ages) other than efficiencies...
1080p @ 30FPS then! Or even 20FPS as many current games get away with that @ only 720p or below..
Calling it the 1080 and then trying to justify it by saying "well, it's a skateboarding/ skating/ BMX trick and Master Chiefs helmet looks a bit like a BMX helmet and kids like extreme sports!" is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous.![]()
I said it's a play on that![]()
With the amount of spin you put on that you should be in politics.![]()
It's safe to say the 360 stands for the degree, not by itself, but the 360 trick, does it not?
No idea sorry. I always thought it was for the 360 degree light on the front and on the controller.

My money is on it being called Xbox fusion, as they are "fusing" together gaming, tv, music, social networking and all media together, a "one box for all". Just hope they don't forget the gaming bit
The 360 was named because it was meant to represent a complete evaluation of what they were doing but continuing in the same direction (as in literally a 360 degree turn) afaik
