All of a sudden my computer blue screened windows was trying to write to read only memory. no hardware changes were made it just suddenly done this.,
When i try to reboot it just hangs on the bit starting windows and nothing happens. if I try the repair bit then it just blue screens again.

So I try to boot from cd and reinstall windows again but it gets to the bit loading files and then it says starting windows and just freezes again!

Any ideas what this could be? it is doing my head in!

Not 100% sure, but maybe try 1 stick of RAM at a time, and in each slot? I believe people sometimes recommend trying this!

Absolutely. If the problem is a regular occurrence then you should easily identify if a module is causing a problem. If it's not that frequent, then try running each stick/slot combo through memtest86+ or running the blend option within prime stress test.

Check that your Memory settings in the BIOS are of that recommended by the manufacturer. Reset the CMOS if you have to, especially if you're overclocking, noting any changes you have made elsewhere so you can apply these later. Basically run at stock but make once change at a time though :)
