SGII or Nexus ?

Yeah but it's still in the top 2 best Android phones, shows how far ahead of the game it was when it was released. The only thing the Galaxy nexus beats it on definitely is the quality of the screen all the rest the Sgs2 beats it or the subject is subjective.
 
S2 hardware is still top line even considering its age, only thing it doesn't have is the HD screen. Of course in Feb there will probably be a S3 announced which will better everything on the market currently, but you will have to wait at least another 2 months from now before its available.

This is for 'er indoors - Maybe I should just go for a good camera phone like the nokia lumia ?

Owner of both here, SGS2 every time. Video camera seems a lot worse on the Nexus in comparable situations. I prefer the hardware buttons of the S2 and some games are already struggling on the Nexus like GTA III which runs buttery smooth on the S2 even with the hack turning on the extra 3d effects that were removed on Android. Screen is generally nicer on the Nexus but you have to look close up to see any difference. Low brightness there are a lot of artifacts on the Nexus which means you don't get uniform backgrounds, they look like they have brushed aluminium effect. Also the SGS2 is a lot cheaper.

Nexus phones have never really been a good buy when they come out, I believe the only reason the Galaxy Nexus is so popular is because people are so blown away by ICS which is a huge improvement but of course this will be out on the SGS2 soon and roms like CM9 are already useable as daily drivers if you don't mind the couple of features missing that they are still working on.
 
I've got the galaxyS now, have been offered an upgrade to the SGS2 but only the 'cheap' one, but as I understand it's the 'cheap' one that all of Europe gets,

T-Mobile deal is back on for the Samsung Galaxy S2...

24 month contract. 300 min, 300 text, 500mb downloads and unlimited browsing/email for £20.42 a month with T-Mobile plus £35 quidco. Turns out £19 a month for 2 years.
 
S2 is a great phone. Camera is definitely better. Personally I prefer the design of the Nexus and Android 4 is so much better. But it's horses for courses.
 
I always thought if one wants a good camera, they should get a dedicated camera? As in phones were never close enough to what cameras can produce.

But I guess, people don't always carry their cameras, so the next best thing is to have the best available camera on a phone!

Yeah, I took my SGS2 on my summer holidays and got some cracking pics with it. It has a great camera.
