Hi guys,

I've got a mates streetname/postcode and want to send them a present as a surprise but I don't have their house number. Obviously just asking him is out of the question, so what are my options? i've checked the phone book but it seems they're ex-directory.

Muchos gracias!

Someone once told me if you write a really good description on an envolope, it will get delivered. Something along the lines of "red door, cat flap, middle of the street, even numbered house, etc". However I'm not sure how true that is! :p

Get a friend to call his landline from his mobile (withold number) and say 'Hi, is this number 14? We had your mail delivered to us accidentally. I'm wheelchair bound so I got your number from the directory.'

'No sorry this is number 10. By the way how did you get my...'. *BEEEEP*

Or maybe a marketing call saying 'Hi is this Mr Smith at number 14?'.

Used to work in online retail. You'd be surprised how good Royal Mail are at delivering letter written by "special" people.

As long as its the delivery persons usual route you should be fine in getting it delivered. They should remember which names live at which property
