Looking for a budget pair of speakers for TV

I'm looking for a pair of speakers to replace the really tinny built-in speakers of my new LED TV. I'm not an audiophile - I'm not after the warmest sound or the best surround sound - in fact the layout of my room means that surround sound would be pretty troublesome to place and I'm fine with stereo anyway. My budget is £100 but that's not fixed so another £10-20 wouldn't be an issue. I really don't know anything about speakers, so if that won't buy me something with acceptable sound then do tell.

Plus I'd like to wall mount - is there a speaker equivalent of VESA? Or do I have to buy specifically wall-mountable speakers?

Have a look at this soundbar

The slim speaker is tiny, but the subwoofer will really boost the depth and quality of the sound. Comes with wall brackets too!

I looked at soundbars but I'm not sure - how do they mount - do the connect to the TV or do the mount to the wall separately. May TV is mounted on an arm which sticks out a fair way at a funny angle so unless the bar mounts directly onto the TV then I think I'll need to have separate speakers

Ah, well if you'd have given the above info in the first place (BIG HINT :D) then you'd have got an answer more tailored to your needs.

Have a look at the Q-TV speaker system. It bolts on to the TV.

has the TV got speaker bindings? if not you will need an AV amp, which will cost you...

im a big fan of mordaunt short or B&W but thats most going to be above your budget. you might get some lower quality MS from richer sounds and the like

I have very recently sorted myself out with a new LED tv which is a bit spartan in spec so doesn't have any audio outs except through scart (even then it only works on certain feeds) - but hey, it was mucho cheapo.

I got fed up with the pathetic sound pretty quickly so bought myself a set of diamond 9.0's from richer sounds for £40 (fantastic little speakers for the money) and a second hand cambridge audio am1 mk3 se. Have connected this up via the headphone jack on the TV which at least means the tv can drive volume with the amp permanently set at about 50%, not ideal but it'll have to do and the sound quality is still decent - infact it's a world away from what the TV came with and also now provides decent sound for using the 360 to pull music / videos from my main pc.

Grand total ........£70. It's not going to rival any kind of proper setup but it's so much better than what you'll get with any tv i've ever heard.

Oh, I also made myself some stands for the wharfedales - cost me about £20 to do and they look pretty good

Thanks guys, but I have changed my mind and I think I will get myself a soundbar. While it won't be pointed an the exact same angle as the TV it shouldn't be too far off. The soundbar lucid suggested seems to be a popular choice for my budget, so I may just go for that.
