Currently have issues (again) with Metro 2033 on Steam. Whenever I start up the game it crashes on the video of the square being welded or whatever.

I've tried lots of 'fixes' and none of them seemed to work.
-deleted user.cfg
-went to the install folder in the steamapps directory and installed all the software there
-changed fullscreen mode to off
-verified integrity of game cache
-reinstalled the game

Currently using ATI 12.1a preview drivers if that's any use. Only thing I can think of is reverting back to older drivers and see if that solves the problem.

Any help with this problem? And before anyone asks I used driver sweeper to get rid of everything before installing the preview drivers.

Do you have physx installed?

Originally there was an issue with Metro and ATI, where after install, it would crash untill you restarted the computer.

Verify you have physx installed (not that your going to use it, but the game needs it) and try a restart.

I managed to finally get it running :D.

The physx issue was stupid as hell. Whenever I tried to fun the .exe from the install folder it told me that I had a more up to date version installed already. Ended up having to download the physx drivers from the nvidia website so that I could uninstall them, and then install the drivers from the install folder.

Either that worked or when I checked the 'run in compatibility mode' box in the metro2033.exe properties :p.

None the less, took me 2 hours to get the game working and it is now 1am so I have no time to play it .
