So which of the two would you go for and why? I've heard lower CAS timings are better, yet so are higher memory clocks.

1333mhz with CAS 7-7-7-20

or

1600mhz with CAS 9-9-9-20

I only noticed how dirt cheap 1333mhz RAM is moments ago, and decided I might as well throw a few extra gigs of RAM into my system with some spare cash I have.

Brand I am looking at is OCZ Platinum 1333mhz (2x4gb) for £17.99, and Corsair Vengeance Blue 1600mhz (2x2GB) for £23.99.

If your current stuff is 1600MHz, go for more of that!

I think higher speed is more important than CAS, unless you are crazy about benchmarks. not 100% though

I have a problem where either I'm being a complete dumb ass, or I cannot fit RAM sticks into two of the four memory slots on my motherboard. Heck, sometimes it's a struggle just to get them to fit into the slots I can actually put RAM into. Which is why 2x4GB would be more preferable. Also considering 2x4gb 1600mhz costs twice as much, if not more, than 2x4gb 1333mhz :(.

Are you definitely putting them in the right way? There is small notch, that is not in the middle.

If you can afford an 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz set, I would. There are loads of them on offer atm.
Or just get 2GB more of what you have.

Don't mention any competitors but are you looking on OcUK?

They have OCZ Platinum 1333MHz for £17.99 but it's 2x2GB.

OCZ have been out of the RAM business for something like 12 months.

Any OCZ RAM being sold new is actually old remainder stock.

Ahh yes, thanks for pointing that out. Please excuse my late night mistake :p.
