Police condemn 147mph Jaguar driver

I'd guess that the police had to do 147mph to catch the Jaguar, that the yahoo reporting is wrong and that they pressed the Jaguar driver into a conviction in court.....

Quite likely. I'm always amazed when the Police spin out statements like "I had to do 120mph to catch them" and deduct from this that the perp was doing a similar speed. Possibly a sad reflection on slipping GCSE standards :D

Yet another non-news events being spun out of all proportion.

Yeah I was once caught by a laser gun on a slip road on the motorway doing 96.5 mph. The police took 4 miles to catch up with me and when they pulled me over they said I was lucky the only had me on the gun at 96mph as I must have been doing well in excess of 100mph afterwards as they had had to drive at 150 mph to catch up with me.

Really? No surprise. I mean how far would I have travelled at 96 mph before the stationery police car had even matched my speed never mind to start and catch up with me? (to be honest, I think I had subconsciously slowed down for that junction as I knew the police were often there and had been doing about 115 mph after the junction ;))

It only does that when you hit 100.1 and realise you might be going a little too fast. :p

Or when your sat in the passenger seat of your bosses car going down the motorway and think "Hmm we seem to be going quite fast" and look across at the speedo to see we are doing 165 mph.

Would it be asking for trouble to keep a primary school maths book in the car - those with questions like 'jane has travelled 100 yards in 2 minutes at a steady speed, how fast will john have to travel to catch up in 10 minutes' ?

No your honour we have no idea how mr telescopi fell down 10 flights of stairs one after the other whilst in our custody

What's the betting he goes out & gets one of those Leccy wheel chair thingys & tricks it up. :D
Ban that ***** :p

If it was an empty road with good visibility and was driven considerately I wouldn't comdemn someone for doing those speeds tho I think its a bit silly... if he was passing other road users, in the dark, with little care for anyone else then he got off lightly and didn't deserve to.

The only problem is, even our motorways are falling apart now. I mean i bottomed out my Fiesta 3 or 4 times on the M4 last night. Shocking. Hitting a massive dip, then almost taking off at 80-90mph isn't funny at all. M25 for instance has pot holes on it... ON A MOTORWAY!. Even the newer sections have shocking road surfaces too.

So while im pro speed, theres almost no where to do it "safely" anymore.

What surprises me is that he got banned for totting up?

I though 30mph over or double the speed limit results in an instant ban anyway?

is yours that low or just a bit soft?

the a130 near us is a total joke, ive been airborne on that before lol

I think I got "ban" confused with "mandatory court summons".

From reading - 36mph is an advised court summons with a recommended minimum month ban as a sentence.

Not from the most pro website though.

Well sometimes you gotta speed I dunno.

Obviously Swift felt confident behind the wheel of the XKR and rightly so. 147 is not even breaking a sweat for such a car no? ¬_¬
