lmo amd are playing it as any company do. you have the fastest, the best you can charge the most makes sence, even if we all hate the price they dont make them for the good of us its mainly for profit
but i really do believe they are playing it well just enough increase to be able to charge that price. also its known that there is a good amount of headroom for overclocking when kepler top end is released amd have say 6 months to iron out problems release a 7990 overclock the 7970 and have a good fight back at nvidia. all this while coining in top dollar for the card thats the fastest single gpu card as it stands. then they always then have the option for competing on bang per buck when the card is finally out done by nvidia a nice price drop would then come about all in all a win win imo.
im still tempted by both gtx580 and 7970 buy i will wait a month just to let some dust settle
