US marines urinated on bodies of taliban fighters

Urinating on dead bodies in any context isn't good... Can't see how being at war justifies anything that's normally disgusting.

In no way should anyone condone that but it's easy for us to judge sat in our nice warm homes while they're out there risking their lives and their friends are getting killed day in and day out.

I doubt it's even a fraction of what the Taliban would have done were it the other way around, but what do I know. I'm not Mystic Meg.

Disgusting.

And I don't doubt that Castiel, a bona fide soldier, will shortly be along to agree with me.

I'm all for manners, decorum, respect and morals, however these guys are in a complete mind **** situation with unimaginable amounts of stress and mental tortured place on them. If some of them act stupidly, then so be it. It's not like a bunch of lads from the city leaving their local pub and doing the same thing is it?

I have to say I agree with this, but as said above I am talking from the comfort of my chair in the UK.

I'd like to think war wouldn't change me that much.

i too am in my comfort zone but that doesn't change how i feel. i could never understand how being involved in this conflict could change me as i will never experience it but i don't agree with this, no matter if it's the taliban or not, what kind of example does it set?

the system is failing these soldiers. they will now be remembered as the people who urinated on the taliban (some people will hold them in high regard because of this) but this will bring a lot of shame onto them and the allied forces.

Desecrating any human body is a crime, they wear the uniform and yet they show no honour. Who cares if one side "does worse", they are just the same as them if they do so.

War changes people indeed but at the same time there have been soldiers coming out saying how they and their fellow soldiers gunned down innocent people in their homes and later the reports were either swept under the rug or masked as armed civilians.

Both sides are to blame really. Reminds me of one of the recent episodes of Homeland really.

how would i feel? i wouldn't feel like i had to urinate on them. we are not like them, this kind of act makes us like them, infact i doubt they would do this. of course, i understand what the taliban have done but that's not the point.

you would happily hunt down and kill someone defending their country / views kill them.. then think it not right to wee on the corpse? how does that work... if you had the choice to kill them or wee on them you would rather kill them?

taliban did nothing to america as far as I am aware (unless you mean those dead taliban personally did something to those troops), the americans invaded their country (well the country the taliban invaded or took over or what ever)
