Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 650W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Corsair Hydro H60 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive

Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
MSI GTX 570
I7 2600k

hope my spec is ok and works well, now had shuttles systems for 10+ and this will feel like my first build.

A. do i need to get anything else? the cpu cooler seems to have thermal compound, and the case has fans.

B. Any tips, do i need spacers for the mobo? install the psu first then the mobo? ANY tips or methods welcome

Specs fine, may or may not need a 8pin ATX extension cable, depends if the cable on the PSU is long enough to reach the motherboard after routing behind the case.

Tips to help you build,

ok thanks mate, i guess i can get one of those cables local if i need. will watch the video's now, just worried about bolting the motherboard in really

well putting the standoffs on and screwing in is easy, just take your time and find a time when you won't be disturbed and take it slow.
First time I did it I forgot to use the "blanking plate" for the i/o or whatever it was called.
Just put your feet up and watch the videos before you get the kit and you will be fine I'm sure

If it's like my 500D (Which I believe it is), the stand offs are already in place, and you will have 9 of them. I have the same motherboard as well, so it should just be a matter of screwing on the motherboard onto the back of the case. Make sure the holes match with the stand off, but that should be just right.

Also do not forget to put the backplate before the motherboard. Ideally, you want the CPU, memory, and cooler on the mobo as well, Although with a liquid cooler, the cooler backplate should be enough.

You will be fine putting that motherboard into the 650 I did a build recently and all the standoffs are screw in place by corsair and there is also a rubber notch in the middle which keeps the motherboard seated when tightening screws.

Lovely case to work with, my only dislike is that the USB 3.0 are pass through and don't have a motherboard header.

ha ha, one thing that concerns me, is the amount of drivers on the asrock motherboard site... seriously do i need all of them!

Just use the ones which are specific to your motherboad, you should have a CD that comes with your motherboard which will have drivers on it anyway.

I have the 650D and yes it comes with the MB standoffs fitted. Excellent case, Very good cable management fan controller a bit poo but works.

+1 for corsair 650D

You have bought the perfect overclockable bundle... so you need to learn how to overclock too :) since you have a "k" processor it will be very easy.. if you are pre-downloading software then get Prime x64 to stress test your CPU

Also, I have round that RAM doesnt auto set itself to the right speed quite often so make sure its set to 1600mhz and not 1333

whats the deal with the USB3 cables, do i need to use them as i have USB3 on the mobo?

Ensure you get the PSU in and plugged in first if the case allows, but switch it off for the build. Earth yourself to a bare metal part of the chassis before handling any components and place the mobo on the box it came in when fiddling with it, not on the antistatic bag!

Not wanting to kick off yet another discussion but personally I'd get an antistatic wrist strap (and optionally a mat for peace of mind). Chances are you might have to fiddle about a bit on a first build so minimising risk of ESD as close to zero as possible is a good idea IMO. I reckon all motherboards should come with a disposable strap in the packaging tbh.

They go here I believe:

(only one of those headers is USB3.0 on your motherboard.)
