I have a corsair cx builder 600w psu and a z68-ap-d3 mb, and I have USB_1 plugged in, but cant find any more of the correctly pinned cables for usb2+3? I think this is what is making my deathadder light up then go off again during boot..

Also I want to put in a new optical drive into my coolermaster elite 430 case but cant find how to to remove the front panel? Sorry about typos im on my phone as no working computers!

WOAH WOAH.

You shouldnt be plugging any USB cables onto a PSU directly.

IF these are the cables that come from the case ports, then they plug into the motherboard along its bottom edge.

Theres a white one with a red insert (this is the 3X power USB port for charging devices)

There are also two in blue next to each other underneath the bottom slot.

I can see the slots on the motherboard (they're nicely labelled actually), and I've plugged in the USB 1 with a white bottom on it, but can't find the plug bits for the other two on the psu cables? :/

There shouldn't be ANY cables from the PSU to any of those USB connectors along the edge of the motherboard.

There are only 2 cables that plug into the motherboard from the PSU - the large 24-pin one along the edge opposite the back panel connectors marked ATX, and a square 4-pin one up in the corner nearest to the back panel connectors, marked ATX_12V.

If you have any more cables plugged in from your PSU to your motherboard - DO NOT APPLY POWER.

Can you take a picture of what you have plugged in please

There should NOT be anything going directly from the PSU to the USB headers on the motherboard. It will not have said that in the manual

The cable with CSA is not coming from your PSU it looks like the front USB header cable coming from the front of the case.

You won't have any more cables to plug into the other USB headers on the motherboard because you probably don't have any more USB ports to hook up.

I think from looking at the picture at least.

The start of this thread made me afraid lol,PSU cables in the USB pins on the motherboard WTF LOL. Thank god its not that scenario!

I almost fried a motherboard a couple years back when a loose PCIe power cable managed to work its way onto one of the USB pins on the board.(had been moving the pc around) Knew something wasnt right as soon as i turned it on and turned it off fast then saw the cable in the wrong place!

After that it wouldnt get past the bios post screen would just hang on the USB detection......fixed it with a proper CMOS reset, just popped the battery out for a while,PSU and motherboard still working perfectly 2 years on,so lucky!
