Edifier S730

Does anyone have any experience of this system ?
and if so how does it perform ?

I started looking at Creative T3/Logitech Z623, but found that all the reviews pointed at the Corsair SP2500's, so I upped my budget and found the S730's seemed to be also in the general price bracket.

However, It's hard to find reviews of these, what I have found all seem to unamimously state they are excellent except a lack of midrange which will compromise them for music.

As a PC speaker system for games and movies, the S730 is excellent. Audiophiles will be flustered by the slight lack of mid-range, but unless you're listening intently the speakers will be all but perfect for day-to-day tasks.

In the end I happened upon a cheap Corsair SP2500's second hand, which prompted me (with all the glowing reviews) to just give them a go.

All I can say is, WOW.. the reviews are correct, for music (all I've really used them for so far), they are amazingly detailed with good midrange/clarity and very clean. I can't remember the last time something exceeded my expectations by this much.

I haven't heard the S730's, hopefully someone can chime in on that, but I can highly recommend the SP2500's, I've not seen a bad review yet.

The impressive thing with the SP2500's is that they are bi-amped and setup such that they can never distort, including the sub, so you can keep turning it up to max and it just sounds super clean with plenty of punch, the sub is ridiculous for a 2.1 PC setup, rattles everything in the room and is very musical, the whole 232W RMS is actually something you can experience without it being a muddy mess of distortion, although your neighbours/rest of the house might not like it!

Used both.

S730 area little better than the SP2500 however the price is a good £50 more and to be honest its not really worth it.
