Samsung Smart Window

Then I'm not sure what your point is.

Windows don't have lights over them as you see in the video. Would you want a light that like sticking out from your house? Then again people seem happy to stick a dish up these days so many nobody cares.

I still think it's market is glossy reception areas and will never find it's way into the home.

It will be developed to incorporate the required light in the housing eventually.

I was thinking that the light could come from the top / bottom through the glass, but hey

It's going to be in my home!

It'll have limited application - most people 1) wouldn't want to stare out of their window and 2) wouldn't want to put something expensive on display because it'll be nicked or vandalised.

What happens when it goes dark outside as well? There's no backlight that I can see.

So far as I can tell it's another toy for posh glass+chrome corporate reception areas.

be useful for shops i guess but i cant see it beeing that useful in a home

What if your oven door was made from it and housed all the controls for the oven in touch screen but remains transparent so you can see the food. Could link to online recipes too then which control the oven automatically (preheat it for you, etc).

Or maybe a shower screen in the bathroom so you can browse OcUK whilst washing/watch tv and it will also prevent water from going on the floor.

The oven idea would be awesome - interactive recipes that time things and tell you when to add stuff etc... so it's almost impossible to get it wrong!

This is the only home-use idea I can get excited about, having a Kindle-esque library of recipes right above my stove would be awesomesauce.

yea brilliant i want to bend down and press the controls on my oven door, old people will love it a society with arched backs!, i really want distractions while im taking a shower aswell...

its about as useful as the table with the build in screen from 5+ years ago

I made sure I had my oven put at just above waist height - having the oven down by the floor is poor kitchen design tbh. :p

Would be funny if the touch screen was super sensitive so whenever some water splashed on it, an area of the screen was pressed.

you have a single oven by itself like microwave? or is it built into a cooker like most peoples? :P

bench surfaces
hobs
grill/second small oven
main oven (i want to bend down and look at its window to browse ocuk)
floor

you would be better off if the oven , fridge , microwave , tv etc had build in wifi and that screen was just a wireless portable monitor you can stick on any wall and move about as you like, use it to control everything in your house like a touch screen remote.

it migth aswell not be a window anymore and instead be a tablet.

i dont see them ever beeing anything but a novelty item for home owners

Very cool, I just won't about 50k to kit the house out with samsungs smart products that are all controlled by touch and smartphone apps. There's washers, dryers, robotic hoovers, fridges, freezers, tvs, this smart screen and probably more.

It's a step toward having a sheet of glass on your wall that you can barely see when switched off, then it turns into a tv and/or computer interface.

I just don't fancy standing at the kitchen sink all day to look at photos or watch a film. Likewise I wouldn't want to stand in my bedroom at the window either.

Be ideal above the cooker for following recipes etc... however it's OTT for that.

The best bit is the blinds.

Nice product... silly idea.
