Hello,

Just ordered the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 "Dual Fan Edition" 2048MB and I'm keen to use the Dual bios feature and overclock it to 6970 capabilities but I'm concerned that I may void my warranty, is that true or ?

Thanks guys

Rape it with volts ((no, don't)(but OC the **** out of it)). They'll never know if you only do it via afterburner (or similar)

Yes it voids it and now they know what you intend

No it doesn't void it, besides Sapphire or wherever he bought it from don't know that joe bloggs forum name is masterdeadly do they?

As Cleeecoo put it, by using software to oc a card, how does anybody know if you did or didn't oc it?

Also some of the 'Dual Fan Edition's' come factory flashed with unlocked shaders.

Even if he was to flash the bios, it can be reflashed with the original bios and re-locked with a command, nobody would know it's been flashed.

And a disclaimer that switching it voids the warranty.

I have 2 6950>70's bought from OCuk who advertised them as 'unlockable'.

It's a 6950 not a 6990, the 6950 doesn't have a disclaimer about switching the bios.

Apart from the 6990's AMD added the dual bios so that users can create custom bios.

MSI gave out instructions on how to try to enable the shaders(most didn't) and increase oc'ing range on frozr II's.

6970 Frozr III iirc, has increased voltage range on the other bios.

Sapphire Toxic comes factory pre-flashed unlocked shaders on the second bios.

Asus DCII has diferent fan profiles on each bios.

Agreed tbh, got two gtx 470's here. Factory oc'd gigabytes, 630mhz core clock. I think they were kept at that speed for about a week. Overclocked daily for over a year now at 750mhz on stock volts. Had them stable in games/benches at 800mhz on 1.012v for a few weeks, but the fan noise got on my nerves.
