Homeless people in January

Anybodys life can turn to **** at any time. Not everyone is living on the streets because they want to, and as I sit here in my house with the central heating on its not funny to think that in 2012 there are people sleeping in doorways in the UK.

Oh, I am not ignorant. Why do you think these people choose not to to live in a conventional way like the rest of us. I would say it is because they have some kind of addiction to a substance which will stop them from functioning in a way that is normal to the rest of our population. They know they can get help for this addiction but again, they choose not to as that is the hard option. The easy option for these "barnacles" of society is to hold a hand out and say "please mister, i needs me some food for i am poor and have no home". Would people go to drug dealers and buy these addicts some smack to give them like you would feed bread to the ducks. No they would not but people can't seem to compute that all a smack head wants is smack.

Well, that is how ignorant i am.

Why do other people think these people beg for money.

Your post confirms your ignorence because you are saying that all homeless people have drug dependancies and have chosen to live in the way they do, both of which are factually incorrect assumptions. So yes, you are ignorent and quite possibly a troll from the wording you are using.

*Edit*

You must be an unemployed doley scumbag who leeches off the state by choice because you live in Liverpool, right? Because that is true of people that live in Liverpool, right? /end sarcasm

100% right. :D

I am not saying all homeless people are dependant on some drug, including alcohol, but I would guess at 90%+. I am also not a troll I just seem to have a different opinion to most people on here. Maybe when somebody posts the answer to why people choose to be homeless and also why they think that giving a homeless person money is a good idea i will be enlightened. What do they spend this money on as i have never seen them spend it. I don't give homeless people money as i have made the decision not to. I believe giving them money will not help the situation of homeless people at all so it will be of no benefit to me or the person begging for money.

And I totally agree.

On the other hand here it's currently 70F and sunny, as it has been for the last 2 weeks so I have my zero care face on :p

The only two homeless people I know of in the Worthing area are both off their rocker.

"Crazy bag lady" who has a trolley with about 15 bin liners full of stuff? Doesn't beg from what I know but wedges herself in between mountains of bin liners and a waste bin so its like a grotto and there's no way I'm going in there to try to converse.

The second lady who constantly bunks the train from East Worthing is the same. I remember she was once asked if she was okay at the platform when it was absolutely throwing it down with rain by a girl and she started being abusive.

I must be missing all the sane homeless people, a lot of people do though. I should really be more grateful for what I have and help out those less fortunate :(

**EDIT** - We actually got speaking about homeless people at work about two weeks ago and wondered why they choose to live on the streets so thanks for the link, will be useful to show my work mates.

We have a guy who sells the Big Issue on Uni Campus. Did an interview with the University Newspaper last year. He always seems like a genuinely nice guy, and has a lovely dog named Issue.

Apparently he lives in his van basically, feel sorry for the guy, he must be freezing. He used to be a builder but apparently work dried up. His daughter in London offers to help him out, but he says he doesn't want the help.

The only homeless guy I know isn't actually homeless, lol. His name is Mark and he sells the big issue outside Sainsbury's in Crosby, Liverpool. Just don't tell the kind folk of Crosby that he has a flat a couple of miles away as that would dent his income severely. :)

There's no excuse for people been homeless in the UK. We have shelters all over and they take anyone in. It's their choice to live on the streets.

Maybe when somebody posts the answer to why people choose to be homeless

My giddy aunt.

Please scroll up and read the link I provided explaining some examples of WHY some homeless people choose to be homeless.............

Some actually want to stay clean from the addiction they are battling for example, the last place they want to be is in a shelter where they mix with other addicts.

Honestly, do some research on the subject, you have no idea WHY, you are just full of ignorant presumption. Jesus.

They don't have to be homeless regardless ov the situation it does say 10 reasons why they choose to be homeless. Note the word choice.

So, I read the top of that link but who is the author. Is he an ex-homeless person or someone guessing, oh wait, no, he is some mad American religious nut job called Ross and here is my link of what else Ross has put up on that socialoutcast website. Did you do your research Shadesofgrey?

http://www.socialoutcast.net/blog/author/admin/

I looked at who this ROSS is before i read why people are homeless in america to see if it was worth reading his article and by my "ignorant" understanding it is not worth reading.

I spoke with a guy this evening that is French living in Brighton. He was working here last year. He lost his job, lost his flat and now is sleeping on the street. DWP won't pay him benefits. He has no passport and no money to get a replacement - he can't even go home to France if he wanted to.

He sleeps at the moment at a carpark that is being built. He is there because the construction workers allow him to sleep overnight as long as he is gone by 8am each morning.

He sits on the side of the street with no place to go. He doesn't beg. Still, passers by spit on him and treat him like dirt. Everyone is entitled to basic human dignity.

We could all so easily be there instead.

If this is true, surely there is a french embassy or something he can go to?

So, I read the top of that link but who is the author.

Those 10 examples could be written by Hitler and they would still be good examples of why some homeless people choose to be homeless.

If a child raping murderer wrote 'the sky is blue' would he be wrong?

Come off it, you just want to belive your own ignorant, uneducated and closed minded nonesense.

eeee. Yes, some people choose to be homeless, but there are real, understandable reasons.

If more people/the powers that be took a bit more notice of them and gave them some alternatives that empowered them to be able to make the choice to not be homeless, guess the hell what!???! More of them would CHOOSE not to be homeless.

certainly is. being homeless though that info isn't exactly readily available too him. but you would have expected the police or another authority (who often take note of homeless people) to of told him...
