I've said it many times, hardly ANY MMO's balance for 1 vs. 1.
This is the problem to begin with. Unless you're fighting 8vs8 of EACH advanced class, some are just better solo than others, when those classes stack one side of a team it's very rockrockrokrockrockrock vs scissors.

If all classes (any game) were balanced 1vs1, you can add any other class and it will be a skill game. It scales well.

Indeed, it's this whole general idea that developers seem to think everyone likes to be in a group and thus make classes/items specific. PvP should be about skill, meaning that every class can 1v1 and thus relies more skill in a group.

Sadly, it's more about who has most time to play and farm items in order to be good as well as having how many FOTM classes in their group.

I understand that people want more progression/rewards due to more time they have played - all fair in the PvE environment, but in a PvP environment and lowbie should have as much as a chance to kill a high level player with the high player only having knowledge as their advantage.

My reasons come in to the fact that I have only ever played online games for the PvP which relied on skill.

Hmmm, a pro MMO player? Well if youre paying the sub, whatever floats your boat. A bit like Chk4 :D

Nah, I've unsubscribed :p
Was being sarcastic towards LateX'Dog being a pro and what not. Not that it matters.

I thought I'd give it a bash tonight as I've only played it a couple of hours this week. Had enough after an hour.

I will keep a close eye on this thread and see how future patches/expansions etc pan out. Back to the PS3 it is then, glad I didn't invest in close to a grand in a gaming pc for this, but time will tell.

So which is it? Unbalanced with faceroll classes or balanced and skill based?

Don't be pedantic just to argue.

Basically a level 50 terrible player as a Sorc (Or any class) can faceroll an awesome level 25 player because of the expertise and level difference. Bolster was supposed to close the gap and up to 49 and it does, but the pvp gear at 50 just makes skill irrelevant.

Moving 50's into there own bracket will see a lot of people rerolling classes as there getting owned by more skilled players and not having the level and gear advantage.

When you see a Sorc standing still and spamming chain lightning or a bounty hunter spamming tracer missile, they will quickly have to change there game plan, because they wont have a faceroll advantage.

Skill does make a considerable difference in PvP. You certainly notice it.

It's far from ideally balanced, but PvP never really is in games such as this, Blizzard are still failing to balance PvP in WoW even after all this time, after each patch, everything is messed up again and again.

Technically its more balanced then any other mmo because of the lack of class numbers.

There is only 4 classes in this game, as every class has a mirror. So compared to WoW's, its a lot easier to balance.

It's just a shame that the changes to the warzone brackets is being implemented when everyone's subscription ends. They may have kept a few more customers if this had been implemented two or so weeks ago.

One game? Try several... In fact, try all the games that is item/classed based.
Your response indicated that the reason that "there will never be a truly balanced PvP MMORPG" is entirely because Robbo said there are games out there that struggle to find balance. It's like somebody saying "most pubs don't seem to serve decent beers anymore" and you responding "indeed, this is why we'll never get decent beers in pubs anymore".

If you'd elaborated further on the comment, such as suggesting that Blizzard have shown their pedigree in balancing online games with the Starcraft and Warcraft series but are struggling to balance the game they probably plunge the most resources into, I wouldn't have flagged you up on the comment. You just seem to have expanded on one comment (PvP is never really balanced in theme park MMORPGs) with an even stronger one (PvP will never be balanced in any MMORPGs again) without any reason provided.

But anyway, alluding a little to what Latex'Dog has just said above, I suppose I'm just being pedantic for the sake of it.

I do not understand the whole 'all in' approach to PvP on this game. giving 50's their own band does not make a difference imo - 49 is the new 50.

Should have bands - 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50.

Thats it. You become a top level player very quickly, you progress and get shoved down to the bottom, no matter; soon be at the top. Why mess with this?

For the average casual player It just takes so long to get anywhere near the top, you just think why bother until you are at least lvl 30 and you may have un-subbed by them.

Because as in WoW (excluding twinks), the lower level PvP will be deserted.

10-49 PvP allows everyone to PvP regardless of level with the littlest wait time.

You can still contribute significantly to a warzone at low level. I've had no issues with that.

People need to stop moaning and start learning PvP basics and the map layouts/effective choke points, etc.

What is there to elaborate on?

With the current trend of MMORPGS being released which are based on classes/items then the PvP will never truly be balanced. The current mind set of PvE progression has totally ruined the way PvP should be.

It shouldn't require me to write several paragraphs explaining why.

Ah its pedantic to point out youre contradicting yourself. Hoookay. What youre saying now doesnt make any sense either. Removing the 50s is going to gimp the faceroll classes? If i can get a 10:1 k/d on a level 17 sorc Im going to be rejoicing at the 50s going. But really, i have no interest in arguing about the degree of ez mode going on, its the only fun i have in this game and even then its now getting boring.

Simple fact - PvP is porked and cant be rebalanced without annoying the **** out of a ridiculous amount of Inquisitors just before youre trying to get them to sub. WoW can get away with it by making classes FoTM and getting people to roll them and level fast. I sure as hell couldnt face all that dialogue again in SWTOR.

Anyone getting random black screens? Half way through 'the false emperor' flashpoint and the screen goes black for a few seconds while in a boss fight, comes back and ctd, brilliant.

Are the log in servers down or something ?

I can log into my game account just fine, but the launcher won't let me login?

and should be 10/19 - 20/29 - 30/39 - 40/49 and 50, because the server caps are way way to low.

Not really true... a gunslinger plays very differently to a scoundrel (for example)... I'm not sure to what extent the same is true of the other 3 base classes but saying there are only 4 classes is a little silly.
