*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Well they could have updated it them self?

With regards to FXAA, its enabled and i can load the game and play fine, so i don't know if that means its working.

The thing is the game doesn't look like it's been updated. The demo work from the Hero Engine looks better than the end result we got in the game. Even more so since the gameplay footage they use can't be replicated in the game, unless in cutscenes. Even then cloth textures are still terrible.

Well if the jagged edges are reduced and you're not noticing a performance drop in FPS I'd say it works :)

I really think Bioware should have gone with the U3 engine like they use in Mass Effect two, they have vast experience with it already.

God This is an MMO engine!

That planetside thing sounds good but it wont work.

FPS MMOs just dont cut it today, given that people get the same leveling positives from games like BF2, also balance would be such a huge problem and server lag would be massive if you using those sorts of graphics.

Also vast majority of MMO players dont want mega high graphics as it useally means bad performance.

Back on topic though, issues with game i see as current are:

No UI mods a huge issue
Animation problems/delays, again a huge issue if not addressed asap.
LFG system, not a huge issue but in my server it pretty dire atm with people and instances.

Currently biggest issue i have with game is lack of "drop in and play" ability.
Maybe this due to my server, Dxun battle server or could be just my feel but i actually like to meet and play with other players without the chains of a guild.

By this i mean public quests, a focal point of meeting other players during the useally very lonely questing of a MMO, it makes a change in game pace and surely makes it more enjoyable to just group up with random people in your area and do a "heroic" quest and such.

Currently it seems everyone is just farming up levels ASAP reach 50 then pvp.

There seems 0 fun in grouping with random people atm and for me it rather a boring game if all you doing is solo questing, i may as well play skyrim .

Again, might be just my server but i dont feel like i playing a massively MULTIPLAYER game, rather than a singleplayer game with the odd connecting to internet for a couple of player vs player matches.

Random question, when does "Chapter 1" end? Just wondering about the legacy option and whether it's unlocked at 50.

It's after Alderaan.

The biochem nerf doesn't seem that bad, it's only affecting the Rakata and Exotech stuff which most people don't have and to be entirely honest, the Rakata medpac is a bit silly with the amount it heals.

Youd be surprised about planetside. I thought the original was virtually impossible but they pulled it off, it was a pretty decent MMOFPS, and that was way back when. The problem wasnt the FPS aspect it was the sheer pointlessness of the game - youd spend hours fighting over something, take it, then it would just be ninja'd when you logged off. Log back on, fight over the same thing again... no winners or losers. Ive got quite high hopes for PS2. But then I did for SWTOR as well.

Back on point, 100% agree about UI mods, even any way to indicate on screen rather than have to stare at the bar for CD timers.

I would just generally add immersion. Space combat is drivel, getting in your ship and getting off is just going into another room and some arcadey shooter. Theres never any sense your part of a universe, I see carbon copies of myself everywhere, my companions are as unique as grass and theres walls disguised as mountains.

Meh dont want to get started again, im going to play for a bit.

Ah yes, I missed UI mods off my list of things.

Games like this need them. They should all be validated and checked by Bioware first of course, but they need to get the community involved in it.

Certainly a combat log and damage meter are required to start with.

The guild was certainly quiet today. Don't know if people have stopped playing or not. Not going to have time to play this for weeks :(

It seems the fellows from The Dark Immortals haven't been on in a while either. Such a pity, I would have liked to join that guild.

I have run into the Immortals a few times in pvp, good fun.

I just want a combat log !!! playing a sniper I hardly ever get to see the damage I'm putting out which is really annoying, they only appear if the player is around 20-25m distance.

Small niggles aside, I think Bioware have released a cracking game with the smoothest launch of any MMo I've certainly played. I understand it's not everyones cup of tea but it should really only be judged after say '6 mths' of shelf life.

Well I received an e-mail from Bioware in regards to my response about my warning, only took them 2 days which I think was good, just a shame the support tickets in game were not answered as quickly

Took out what I said but guess Bioware don't like my favourite word :(

anyone had a graphical issue with the bounty hunter where if you have your weapon unholstered your movement animation stops?

Was working fine until I logged in today for the first time in 4 days on this character.

EDIT: seems like it is a bug, noticed quite a few travelling round Hutta doing it.
