Anyone got one of these?

How does the discount work because I bought a Bosch Rear Wiper priced at 8.99 for about £6.60. Turned out to be wrong one, Swapped it for correct one priced at £11.99 and I got it for 30p less than the first.

On What items do these Trade cards really show their worth?

Good discount on their own tools with mine, oil tends to have a lowish discount and parts priced 20 quid plus tend to get a decent discount too

Its hard to work out what discount you get on what with it but its well worth having. I know its 20% off tools and Mobil 1 when I bought 5l of it went from something like £45 to just over £30. A pair of headlight bulbs this week was £19.99 and my mate at work got them for £9.99 although some bulbs offer much bigger discounts from over £3 each to 50-70p.

It works off the cost they buy them in for and a certain percentage is just added on, or that's how I thought it was done.

Depends what you buy. Good discounts on Bosch bulbs and it good on the bosch wiper blades I bought for a friend a couple of weeks back.

you can always get them to check the price at the parts counter before you buy.

a mate has one of these, same thing i picked up a bosh set of wipers 21"-19" paid for them at the trade cost of £8.99, replaced them with 2x19" and cost £11 lol.

i also got a £109 battery for £59. its unreal

Not trade card related but a halfords win never the less.bought a slick 12" bass pack last year that's developed a sticky cone, took it back and had it replaced with the later revision which again turned out to be again faulty and ended up with the liteair as a replacement which is a couple of models higher.

got to be able to prove that you work on cars a lot,, a business card and details of your business or a motor mechanics qualifications of some sort.

how do you get a trade card, can non mechanics get them. On halford site says you can use a business card as proof?

I'm not in the trade and managed to get one, they take payslips as proof and there are websites that will print you them with whatever details you give them, So I'm actually a mechanic working in bath somewhere.

The discounts are bigger on halfords own brand items, other brands you will only get a small amount off (£1-2 maybe). Some discounts are very large, e.g. Bulbs that should be £3 end up being 50p. And some items aren't any cheaper, cleaning products for example.

depends on your local store,

you can get one if your a keen diy mechanic (ie a pile of recent invoices from local factors etc) or you have some trade connection (ie mine was being a taxi owner/operator)

discounts range from 40/50p to stupid 80% savings on things like bulbs etc

Every little helps, i use halfords more a less anytime i need a little part and mainly for buying oil, which is bloody expensive.

Blagged mine quite easily, asked for mine when there was a teenage girl at the till.

Only really use it to buy tools as I get oil and parts cheaper from VX.

Just google payslip printers or payslip replacement, can't remember which company I used. It cost under a tenner for 2 custom payslips and I have saved many many times that amount with it.

Wouldn't work at my local place as you have to go to the parts desk for one and the manager had to come over and approve it.

Same at my local store - manager approval only, no card without proof of current trade employment or verifiable qualification.

Some stores seem to hand them out like candy.

I went to one of the smaller branches where there's only one till for the whole store, they normally only have 2/3 staff in at a time.
