They made Me Excited Then They Dashed It .....

My place is a new build on the end of a street, so the house 4 doors down the road has virgin fibre but they won't put in the extra few meters of cable for my place so I'm stuck on sky, I get around 12mb so I can download around 1300kb/s but I miss the 50mb (soon to be 100mb) I had at my parents

Powerful upload speed!

You need to threaten to leave and complain a little more often, the the bill will come tumbling ;) We have two tivo boxes, 100mb and phone line and pay £59.49 per month.

God I wish they would put some effort into improving the broadband situation in Scotland. I only get 4MB!

I would saw off my own legs and deep fry them in garlic for 100MB! :(

if you're on 100Mbps already, it's not a mistake.

This. It's a double ****-up on Virgins part:

i. tell all broadband customers that 100mb is becoming 120mb for less £ (should've just gone to 100mb customers)
ii. tell all broadband customers that the last e-mail was an error (should have gone to all except 100mb customers)

I think, from the current pricing on the website, that if you're on 100mb now you're looking at £15 off from April and +20mbit at some point in the summer.

what you don't know is they are secretly introducing more stricter traffic management polices to all their broadband options.

Your speed may go up, your cost may go down, what you can do with your connection WILL be further reduced.

the top tier packages, which were previously free from the traffic management policy, will now include them.

VM broadband infrastructure has not been updated to handle the load that increasing speed will bring, so further traffic management/shaping policies will be brought in.

They won't ever tell you this though, it will be a subtle amendment to the existing traffic management page, which is already well-hidden from view.

And you have proof of this...?

Yes, at some point.

Existing 100mb customers will be going to 120mb and a slight price adjustment.

Seems good then, but unlike someone said above i hope they don't plan to restrict your usage. I was talking to a rep yesterday and they never mentioned about the upgrade. Will keep my eyes peeled though...

I got the same emails aswell, I'm currently using 30mb and I believe it's increasing to 50mb from what I read (BBC news iirc), and are increasing the usage amounts too.
