Ok guys i'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a new purchase of a psu, couple of things have me a bit worried though.
I'm looking for an 850 watt modular psu,to run my rig(i52500k,gtx570,3 hard drives,8gb ram,and all the antec 1200 case fans, and cpu fans).
I have my eye on the XFX 850W black edition(which i can no longer see on overclockers)Most of the reviews i've seen have been exellent, but i have seen a very offputting review which states that the psu blew up when overloaded, with no safety cut off kicking in,this is a big worry for me as i dont wanna have to replace all my fried components if this does happen lol,
Also been a few dodgy customer reviews on a certain eggy site.
Anyone got one? other opinions on this psu would be most helpful or even suggestions of better psu's for the money(£120 max)
Thanks in advance for any input folks ;)

Yes m8,i'm not ruling out the possibility of sli, thats why i want to get one with a bit of headroom now, shoulda mentioned that in me first post, sorry
I have a thermaltake toughpower 750 watt atm,and its done me proud, solid as a rock from day one,the only thing is i want one with a single powerful 12v rail, and the missus wants me old psu lol

Yup modular is a necessity as well, the one i have now is modular, and much easier to keep things tidy :)
Thanks for those recommendations,
Btw whats your opinion on the psu i mentioned in my first post?
Also do you know what the difference is in the xfx series i.e the "core" edition, the "black" edition and the "xxx" edition

XFX are rebranded Seasonic PSUs, as such they are very good and often recommended!

Black - top end, fully modular
XXX - mid range (still very good) semi-modular (wires such as the motherboard power are hard wired
Core - fully hard wired (not modular)

As such, they are priced accordingly :P The XXX one I linked to is great.
Review of the 850W black edition:

Review of the 650W XXX (can't find one for the 850W, but same series):

Brilliant,i think i'll take my chances with the 850 watt black edition xfx(although it is only partly modular from what i can see),and pray that i'm not one of the very few who has had problems with it.
Thanks for the advice beejjacobs, you've been very helpful ;)

Yeah I myself purchased 2 x 650w XFX PSU's both after a couple of weeks made a low buzzing/ticking noise. RMA'd and got 2 Antec PSU's silent and couldn't fault them.
