Hello OcUk can you help please :o See my specs below. I would like a new graphics card with 2GB GDDR5.

However Im in the horrible situation of being heavily constrained by space inside my case. The new card absolutely cannot exceed these measurements:

----------------------------------
Length = 265mm
Width = 135mm
Thickness=38mm

----------------------------------

Am I asking for the moon? Will I be able to get a 6800 or 6900 series card that will fit the bill? I guess the higher the model number the longer these things get :(

I guess what Im asking is - if any of you guys have a 2GB card HIGHER than a HD5850 whose length is at or equal to 265mm - please can you link me to it (if its on OcUk of course!) If its not just say the company name (eg MSI, HIS, Powercolor, Saphire etc)

OcUKs graphics section is great, very well laid out. But I wish the cards physical dimensions could be listed ;) For example Im looking at this one:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-147-OK

Really keen to replace this HD5850 which I got from OcUK..its given flawless service but now I feel its time for upgrade. Thanks guys.

I would wait a few months until the HD7870 is released. I suspect it will be faster than an HD6950 2GB,have a shorter PCB and consume less power.

Hmm I never considered Nvidia TBH - Im not fussed about make..as long as they perform well. Thanks, I will check those out!

I run 3 screens in Eyefinity - Nvidia cards can do the same? (Im not too familiar with them lol) :D

That is food for thought. When it comes down to it Im not in *desperate* need of a new card, just feel its time. But I will keep a heads up on the 7870, if it really is a shorter card that will be awesome.

Unfortunatly not. You will need x2 nvidia cards to run x3 screens without using a third party splitter thing, which isn't cheap, makes it so you might as well get 2 cards.

Edit: Have you thought about just getting a new case that you can fit x1 phat amd card in?

Using the filters I pulled up a list of AMD cards and just spotted this one - is it a good spec? I cross-checked the dimensions on the Powercolor website and it checks in at:

Length = 241.3mm
Width = 111.2mm
Thickness = 38mm

Looks like I will need some DP-DVi/Analog converters! It only has DP outputs!

Oh I see, thats interesting thanks. Hmmm I think I might stick with AMD cards. Although Im not fussed about brands I find the attraction of one card feeding 3 screens really handy.

About changing case - this PC I have is a customized pre-built I ordered - and TBH while Im fine cracking it open to chuck in RAM, GFX cards, Hard drives etc Im not confident abput my skills (clumsiness? lol) about removing everything and transplanting it to a new massive case...Id really like to do it though lol.

Ive learnt a very hard lesson. My next gaming rig will have a case the size of an airplane hangar :o

Thats the special one to run 6 monitors - is that what you really want - probably costs more than the 7970 ?

All the AMD cards support 3 monitors - some support 4 - the special ones support 6 or 12 (perhaps more now)

Im so tightly constrained by space that the physical length of the card is a priority :( but I will check the 7970s..thanx!

I only mentioned it on price, thats approx 30cm long - any AMD card will support 3 - and most support 4 monitors.

35mm too long..bummer!

I got a feeling Im stuck with HD5850 - unless I either:

1. Chuck all the internals into a new case
2. Get a brand-new system

To the OP stick with what you have! I would really consider waiting for the HD7870 and who knows Nvidia might also come up with an Eyefinity like technology too.

I think I might have to do that in light of all that Ive seen. The nVidias look good but their single cards cant feed 3 screens. That AMD Eyefinity Edition means more converter madness with the DP-only ports on the back and the other AMD cards are too long!

I will see what HD7870 brings....
