Hi guys, trying to sell my car so thought id try eBay, I'm now regretting it already, from lurking the cars ending soon it seems no one wants to pay what the cars are actually worth. (a 2002 Clio172 went for £1200)

I'm interested to hear of other peoples experiences, good and bad, I expect lots of bad...

sell all my old bangers on ebay they always sell for more than they are worth..

you listed it wrong, or the car is not worth that you think it is...

seems about right for ebay pricing, dealers have them for around £1500 and beay seems to be trade prices at best

i sold a few cars on ebay and aslong as i get more than trade in value im happy

This sold three bangers on there, it's brilliant get far more than its worth.
Always do buy it now with offer though. People don't want to bid, or think they can get it cheap. Also some people don't want to wait a week, they need the car in the next day or two.

I've put the GT up on auto trader and will certainly be looking at putting it on ebay if it doesn't sell.

As Glaucus says it's best to go with a BIN with the ability to take "Best offers"

Sold my last car on eBay in days after having it on autotrader for nearly a month. Went for less than I would have liked but hey. No longer shows on askmid so assuming the next owner wrote it off... :-(

Everything on Ebay goes for less than you'd expect because:

a) Although you can view before buying almost nobody does and people are less prepared to full on book value for a car they've not seen
b) The fact it's on Ebay in the first place often suggests a certain level of bork present in the car.

People often use Ebay to get rid of crappy junk they know is about to have or has already had some sort of issue and pricing reflects this.

Which is why I had not a single bite in 30 days on my 335i on Ebay yet people fell over themselves to bid on my knackered old Mondeo for 'cheap'.

Sold the Merc for £1500. It's good for selling cars on the cheap, but I did have to realist it about 2 times. Some people will just waste time.
