Was on the market last April for £125,000

Specs

3 bedroom
Bath and shower
Long garage (big enough for 2 cars, maybe even 3 smart cars lol)
Double wide drive way
Huge attic
Open plan kitchen and living room
Large porch

Our initial offer was £91,000 (because some work needs doing on the house, broken boiler for example)

After a small bidding war and us consistantly being the highest offer, we had our offer accepted at £101,500 (asking price was £109,000

Since I've never bought a house before, what happens now, we've got a meeting at the estate agents on friday, but do I need to do anything between now and then?

To be honest, I just want the keys!!!

I will post some pictures up once the sale is complete and probably do a build log lol

Congrats!

In the process of saving a deposit for my first house now! Can't wait, even though it's more hastle than renting, I just want that feeling of "this is MINE! :)

Time for the party!

Congrats! Start reading up on the process of buying a house so you know what they are talking about on Friday.

I would also start asking friends and family if they have any recommendations for solicitors or mortgage brokers. The estate agent will probably recommend some but they won't necessarily be the best for you. I went with the ones recommend by the estate agent, the solicitor was amazing but the mortgage broker was useless.

If you wanted to sort the mortgage yourself you could start doing research on that.

Depending on the condition of the house you may want more than just a standard evaluation survey so that's something to start thinking about.

Be prepared that going from an offer to completion can (and most likely will) take months, and it can be quite stressful, but it's worth it in the end :)

if you have a mortgage, get on to your mortgage company and start the ball rolling. they will need to send someone out to survey the property.

Jay794: if the boiler is a old gas model, might be cheaper replacing it with a High Efficiency boiler, Vaillant especially good choice.

May be some grants available to cover some of the expense.

The boiler is a combi, my dad used to be a gas man, before all the rules and regs (e.g corgi registered) came in, he said it is an easy fix as the boiler is fairly new.

Just looking to do the same thing as well congrats. Out of intrest what sort of deposit are you looking at in that price range.

Deposit is £60,000 but thats only because thats that we'd saved up for. No idea what the lowest we could get but because of that the mortgage we're getting is awesome, less than £300 a month, minimum fee's for a 20 yeay mortgage

I'm looking to buy this year, got a decent chunk of deposit saved up, and know roughly how much the bank will lend me, but finding anything worth buying is proving difficult!

Why are you taking out a 40 grand mortgage over 20 years?

before you put new paper up write "I WILL KILL AGAIN" on the walls in blood red paint.

just as a gift to the next occupants :p
