I just bought a house!

Probably a noob question but why is it so cheap? I live in a 2 bedroom flat thats worth £120-130k. Granted it sounds like its in worse condition than the flat but still .

The mortgage sounds a little expensive

RBS 50k over 20 years will cost you £264.71 with no setup fee on a 2 year tracker at 2.49%.

If you can afford it why don't you take it over 10 years which will cost you 471 per month.

Ah ok lol well congrats anyway OP :). Need to have a party before you decorate :D.

Great news but the mortgage sounds massive if you put down 60k?

Paying 72k to borrow 41.5k?

Edit: Sorry I didn't see the final bought price. Still seems a little high tho?

That is insanely cheap wow....

Sickening how I can't even get a tiny run down 2 bedroom flat in the most outer suburbs of London for less than £160K. 3 beds smaller than what you've just bought near me are about £300K.

Well done anyway. :)

Reading things like this upsets me living in London. Can't even get a studio for that. Could get a 2 bed new build in Ashford for jus over and commute in on the train but Ashford is a hole :p

I think you can buy a 3 bedroom house round here for sub 80k. Well when I say round here I mean where I use to live, cheap as chips.

It's not in Sheffield, it's actually in chesterfield

In theory we could pay back up to 500 a money but to live comfortably we're going to pay back the minimum until I get some inheritance my way.

I think it's so cheap because it's got Artex on the walls, horrible stuff to remove, thankfully I know a good builder

Why are you taking out a 40 grand mortgage over 20 years?

60k actually, answer? Because its affordable and I can pay off a load of stuff like the misses car and have money left over to do the place up and live. Best part is, in a few years it will be worth way more than what I paid for it

if you know you have money coming your way in the next few years why don't you take it on a interest only basis. it will only cost you 110 pounds per month.

Paid £172,000 for my 9 year old 3 bed (1 double & ensuite, 1 double + 1 single) with a single detached garage in a block.... was up for nearly £200,000.

It was taken as a part ex on a new build, and they just wanted shot of it as it'd been empty for 6 months. Made a silly offer and they accepted!

Hard to believe I've nearly been here a year already.

Hes in Sheffield which i'm sure are similar prices to Doncaster, my brother has just purchased a similar sounding place with a huge garage and huge garden. Location Location Location

I went to university in Sheffield (great city) and my mum lives near to Derby, and all I have to say about buying a house in Chesterfield is probably "I'm sorry" :p I've been through Chesterfield twice - one time I saw a bunch of people fighting at the bus stop (at about 10 am in the morning! Sign-on scramble?) and the other time someone was running down all the cars stopped at a red light and banging on the car windows!
