Hi, i just replaced a PNY xlr-8 550ti with a MSI 560ti twin frozr II, but i don't notice that much improvement on BF3..so i was thinking since i have the 550ti i could run it for physx but know little about it, would it be worth it? they'll fit pretty close to each other and worried about cooling altough i just got a Corsair carbide 500r and has pretty good fans..

My relevant specs are:
Asus M5A78L (1x pcie 2.0 x16, 2x pcie 2.0 x1)
AMD FX-4 oc at 4.3ghz
Artic cooling freezer 13 pro
8gb corsair vengeance
ocz zs 650w
Crucial M4 64gb
seagate sata3 500gb
MSI 560ti twin frozr II
Corsair carbide 500r with 1x200mm 3x120mm

btw does anybody knows if i can remove the heatsink safely from the ram? as they don't fit in the proper slots due to the cpu cooler...

thx

It would run better, but only on games that use Physx, but depending on how much the game uses it, you might only see a minor if any change in performance for a lot more heat and power draw. the 550ti is more then what is needed for a physx card.

i wouldint recomend it as except for maybe a few games you wont see any differnece but you will suffer from higher temps and higher power draw.

If it's the same heatsinks as the ones in this link:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-309-CS

They come off very easily, you should notice that they are held in place(poorly) by two slight bumps down one end, prise them apart very slowly and if your really lucky the double sided sticky tape will stay on the heatsink should they need to be put back on in the future.

Thanks for the reply, i guess just got to try.. i play mostly battlefield 3 and starcraft 2 and think the first would benefit from it, if i see the temps going up could add 2x 140mm exhaust at the top.
As for the ram i saw where are held togheter, if that's the only place i'll go for it.
Just got as well an Artic cooling Frozer 13 pro and it starts spinning only after windows boots giving a "fan error" in the bios, is that normal??

The minimum voltage your fan needs to spin at all could be lower than the voltage used to spin at low temps in your bios....

Thanks Meaker, makes sense i'll try and check in the bios, or maybe it's just defective as in amd overdrive states 2c as a temperature LoL

Bf3 doesn't use Physx I don't think. Tbh man I wouldn't bother unless you had a particularly Physx heavy game that the 560ti was struggling with
