ATV2 Jailbreak

isnt there an netflix addon for xbmc? or is it not compatible with uk netflix?

No idea but I actually like the Lowtide interface that comes on the ATV, it just works. Plex uses it too instead of its own like XBMC, but it still needs to be JB'ed and require your own media server running (can't just stream from a NAS), plus add-on support for it is still quite poor.

Due to this thread I've now got ITV Player, 4OD and Ice Films as well as iPlayer on the ATV2 through XBMC.

It's brilliant. Very impressive.

You won't get any official updates from Apple and have to wait till the latest one is jailbroken. The latest 4.4.4 update was just jailbroken (untethered) using seas0npass.

Thanks for the info. It looks like the jailbreaks come in pretty quick so looks like a no brainer really. And I take it all the official ATV2 functionality (airplay etc) all still works once you've jailbroken? You don't lose anything as a result of doing it?

Suffered slight first problem last night with icefilms. Film crashed, anyone know if it's better to pay for a premium megaupload package?

Also anyone had much luck fast forwarding or rewinding?

Pretty blown away by icefilms. It's the sort of thing I'd pay a considerable amount per month for if the industry finally stepped up and accepted it's the way people want to view media.

Only issue is I downloaded the 230mb meta data file upon first accessing the add-on and it locked up the ATV2 just at the moment where it completed the download.

I don't think the file quite completed but it looks like the 230mb is still sitting somewhere within the XBMC install. Anyone know the best way of deleting it and restarting the download? A straight uninstall of icefilms or some SSH command?

Well looks like icefilms is running still. Update it to version 1.22 and uncheck the option to use an MU account in settings.

Most of the stuff I've tried is still streaming via 2shared sources.

How do you update it? Much content?

Mostly everything is there still. I've tried TV Shows and Movies. No HD stuff, just DVD rip sources. As long as 2shared stays up, it's still functioning.

To update, just go to the page in the XBMC where you can select add-on settings. Go into icefilms and there should be an option to update it.

Cheers, updated to 1.0.23, but nothing is playing
