ATV2 Jailbreak

Just need some advice, I'm using a atv2 with xbmc installed. Now the noob bit, whats the fastest way to get my DVD collection onto my hard drive-I'm down to about 35-40 min a film at the moment. But there must be a faster way??

you are limited by the speed of your dvd drive tbh. tho id still say dvd shrink is the quickest if you can still find it:)

i am having problems, everytime i go into xbmc after a fe seconds tv says no signal and it goes back to atv screen

Did mine at the weekend and took me about 20 mins to do. Will be sorting out XMBC this weekend (hangover notwithstanding).

Well it took me about an hour — no matter what I tried I couldn't get the ATV2 into DFU mode.

Twice I fluked it but didn't think I had, so I restart it just as Seas0nPass was going through the restore and it stopped half way.

I have absolutely no idea what I did differently to get it to work compared to the countless attempts before I finally managed it.

Definitely more luck than judgement but it has worked, so I will install XBMC tonight.

:)

It took me ages to get it in DFU the first time as well. The trick I found was to get seas0npass to waiting for the device to go into DFU, have the USB already in the back of the ATV and ready to plug into PC/laptop etc. As soon as you plug the USB in hold down the menu and play/pause buttons on the remote, as quickly as you can.

Goes straight in then for me :)

Use AnyDVD and rip to an image. But as said your write speed will be the limiting factor.

I'm hoping I wont have to do it again too soon. I think the time I got it working, I had it plugged into the mains, but not via USB and then I unplugged it and plugged the USB in really fast, then held down the buttons.

Seems completely arbitrary to me, I wonder if the Apple tech guys have a knack to it.

I used RipIt to copy the DVD image and then Handbrake to convert it to a format that can be read in iTunes.
