House robbed. Laptop taken. Now I have his fixed IP. What now?

I'm all for the fun troll now and then, but this guy's had his stuff stolen from his house and y'all are tryna get poops and giggles from some trolly comment, time and a place people...

I'd love to say "Police" like other people, but I seriously doubt they'd do anything.
 
These threads always follow a certain formula:

- Loads of funny answers
- About one useful answer
- Someone posts 'REALLY???!!?111?' thinking it makes them look clever
- AN Other tugs on the heart strings by appealing to our human sensibilities
 
Then someone asks a vaguely related question regarding the OP and the thread derails.

So, Dropbox, that's basically an online external hard-drive, right?

The police is the obvious answer, try to get to talk with C.I.D. rather than uniform, and be prepared to explain the significance of what your telling them incase they aren't aware of internet security.

/edit depending on your local force they may have a department to deal with computer related crime ask if you can speak with them if possible.
