Hey guys,

I recently purchased a new phone, I went for the HTC Sensation XE and loving it.

I receive on the "One Plan" :

5000 3 to 3 mins
2000 uk mins
5000 texts
unlimited net

And I'm particular impressed with the u/l net, I phoned three and they say "yes no limit" and also "yes you can tether".

Currently sitting in hospital on my mac using the HTC and D/L American Dad at 400kb/s.

So you paid for unlimited internet and are surprised that you're getting what you paid for? What?

Well yes, so many companies don't tether and have certain FUP. I didn't find out all this till I went into hospital and started by looking at a dongle.

Three are known for that so it shouldn't surprise you. If you get a decent signal they are probably the best network all-round.

Yeah, I find the signal in general to be pretty damn good, shame there is a software glitch on the Android OS.

Hopefully fixed soon.

Im not 100% sure if OS or HTC but, - When I press the button on top (or Power button) it loads up the splash screen then reboots itself, hasn't happened in a bit though (touch wood) but yeah..

PITA

I was with 3 a few years ago and had big problems with their service and their customer service.

Skip a few years and I'm now back from orange and the connection and speed I get almost any where is amazing ....very very happy, I've not had to contact customer service so can't comment on that yet :-)

I don't get how a network can stop you tethering, how can they tell if its your phone or a PC using the network?

Never even thought about being allowed to tether before.

Yea it's a bit daft but in America it's huge all the carriers do it. I agree I pay for tha data should be allowed to do what I want with.
They can tell from your usage and other things if you are tethering.

How? If you have unlimited usuage, how can they tell?

I've tethered for years, was my main point of internet for quite sometime. I don't see how they can sell you a phone and then tell you that you are unable to use a part of it.

Makes no sense to me, does any UK network not allow you to tether?

The normal built-in Tether is quite easy to detect. Anything acting like a router, which this does, can be detected. Without going into much detail, basically the header of a packet being sent is modified when using the built in Tether. There are other things that change too.

Also I guess it's easy to see that it's a phone if you're using it to play certain online games and applications like Spotify.
