*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

how are people getting so zoomed out on these youtube videos? I can't get anywhere like that far away when playing!

There's a setting under Controls for camera max zoom distance.

On another note, I was playing a Sith warrior going dark side with a few lightside for desicions that seemed right; and I just encountered a "reflection" of myself that's my lightside.

Never expected that really, the bugger put made some extremely good points about the lightside. Pity I had to destroy and convert my lightside to dark. He seemed like a reasonable chap.

I currently have Bio-chem / Bio Analysis / Diplomacy as Crew skills.

Is it worth dropping one to have slicing instead?

Will i make enough money with these skills?, i was thinking of dropping Diplomacy for Slicing?

Yeah, take slicing as you will also find a lot of nodes to slice whilst doing quests, the cash soon adds up :)

Can I do without archaeology you think?

Also which skill is the one that gets you lockboxes or augments?

Depends if you use the mats for crafting really.

I think high end archaeology mats sell well, so up to you really.

Slicing is the crew skill for lock boxes and augments (and crew skill missions, which is where the real $ is :) )

They are taking it in turns to farm valor of one another, seeing as there is no diminishing returns on players.

Bioware didn't fix a thing, instead of objective trading they have turned it into kill trading.

Valor? Objective trading? Kill trading? Eeek what is all this? Please explain to a level 27 rookie :D

Im currently artificier/treasure hunting/archaelogy. Anyway to change to slicing with this combination or am I better off starting fresh again?

just means letting each faction kill each other in turn to grind out points to get pvp gear

same thing happened in WoW when cata came out the different faction would get into an agreement with the other to trade tol barad every 2 and a half hours so you would get honor points

Ah so you mean Empire/Republic kill/res in turn to build up points for pvp gear?
Hmm.

I think that kill trading video shows just how stupid large parts of the MMO community have become, the sad thing is that there is so much Bioware can do really, if a group of people on both factions want to farm Valor then they WILL find a way.

Hopefully those players stop playing so the rest of us can have a better experience.

That's why 3 faction pvp is just perfect, the third faction would have steamrolled these muppets as soon as they found them. Why no one's done it since DAoC I have no idea.

Anyone doing this, or caught on youtube doing this deserves a suspension - kill farming used to be considered cheating in mmorpg's, not a design decision. This shouldn't be hard to find from the server logs.

I'm sick of this 2 faction rubbish. Neocron had loads of factions and even if you were supposedly allied, it was player driven. Anyone could fight anyone.

I think it would have been kinda cool if bounty hunter and smugglers and say a 3rd class they could have made formed a 3rd faction. After all they go where the most money is, they don't have allegiances.

A similar thing happened in swg with Jedi farming bounty hunters to get up the force ranks.

I have started levelling a sorcerer and am enjoying him so much more than my marauder. Shooting lightning at people is much more fun. The marauder is just too bloody fiddly, has far too many situational cooldown dependant skills, to do well in pvp with the mara you need to be 100% concentrating and have very nimble fingers. Besides, they supposedly don't get properly powerful until you get to level 40 at least, and that's a long time to wait to be competitive.

That only you can decide mate. If you make\save money doing artificier then keep it as is. I like to craft, but to be honest it is wasted effort and ingame cash doing it at low levels, you level faster than you can make useful stuff.

The probelm I have is I can never find the gear I want on the GTN, so I make a lot of it myself.. (note to self, must find a 'Decent' friendly guild on Niman)
So I level slower and have spent many 10's if not 100's of thousands leveling crafing skills.

But to be honest, taking slicing, underworld trading and one other gathering\mission skill would save you a lot of time and make you more $ to spend on what you want\need (if you can find it on the GTN of course)

Use slicing for lock boxes and sell any mission skills you get as well (I sold 2 purple level 340 missions for 60k last night), slice nodes whilst leveling for more cash. Level underworld trading (first 2 or 3 levels take companion gifts to level your affection rating, improves thier mission skills) then take the metals missions and sell them on GTN or find a friendly crafter who will make the gear you need if you provide the mats (this is where a decent guild comes in handy :) )

Hope that helps some.

The RNG of Champion bags kinda sucks.

Chance for me so far is around 20% for a PVP item, and then a chance again on whether you get the item you're looking for.

I'd say i've been pretty lucky so far, opened around 20 bags and gotten 4 pieces, problem with that being i've had gloves twice :( I can just imagine having all but one piece, it must drive people mad.

Ay,

So far at about 50 champion bags.

6 Ear-peices.
1 Chest
1 Implant.

I wish I had all but one bit.

Why not just make them drop champion marks.

If the drop rate is 20%.

That's 5 bags for a drop (in theory).

If champion gear costs 50 marks - make each bag drop 10 champion marks.

Is it that bloody complicated for them to figure out? - jesus.
