Im looking to upgrade my dual core ddr2 system and as this will be my first solo build and was looking for some help. This is what I have so far

1 x "Argon Tarbosaur" Intel Core i5 2300 2.80GHz Bundle
1 x Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366)
1 x Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM

Comes in at just under £400 and I would be taking from my old system
1 x Corsair HX620W modular power supply
1 x Western Digital Caviar Black 500g sata HD
2 x Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB sata HD
1 x Geforce GTX 260 graphics card

Is this the right route to take for an upgrade or should I be looking to up the graphics card too or get better cpu?

Any advice would be very appreciated and thank you.

Personally I would go for an i5 2500K and a Z68 motherboard for overclocking. It's so simple to then up the multi and get an extra 1GHz+. The GTX260 is still useable for most games at medium settings. But you will need a better card (6950 maybe) to up settings to high.

Mixture of games from WoW and Borderlands to Team Fortress and Batman. Ive been holding off on trying Skyrim and Battlefield 3 but I would like to get into those on the pc too.

Thanks i've not tried overclocking yet so it may be safer to go for an i3 and save for better gpu.

If you can afford it, absolutely go for the i5 CPU - this is a quad core chip while the i3 is a dual core.

As for the Argon Tarbasaur - its not a bad deal (i5 2300, H61 board, 4GB DDR3 for £240). However, if you are able to spend the extra £50 you will be able to afford this - which is quite a bit better (the board has a lot more features (allows overclocking, Crossfire, USB3, SATA 6G), the CPU is faster at stock and can overclock very easily):

(or add on the extra £13 and get the Geild Tranquilo cooler you mention in the OP)
