Blu-ray/DVD Player; advice on what to get.

Hi guys, simple, all I need is a Blu-ray/DVD Player, I have a budget of £100, I have a wired ethernet connection, HDMI connection, needs to be quiet, fast loading, I currently have a 42" 1080P Samsung TV, not interested in 3D.

Am I ok using a different brand player? In other words with my TV being a Samsung am I ok using a Sony, Pany or LG?

Hope you guys can point me in the right direction, cheers.

I have a Philips Blu-ray player which seems fast to me. It makes some noise when it first reads a disk but after that its very quiet. I paid about 70 pounds for it from HMV.

Id recommend it.

Sony S380 at £80; usb playback (ie video files on a memory stick/external hard drive) and reportedly very fast. You can use any brand.

One of my colleagues was looking at an LG BD650 earlier today. It's only a profile 1.1 player (so doesn't have network access) but looks to playback assorted media from USB.

Can be had for ~£60 (although one of the supermarkets had it up for £30 this morning (but quickly sold out)).

Had a look at the Sony S380, looks great, good reviews too, thanks for the info.

Should be a good buy.....certainly better than the equivalent Samsung tat!
