What about the new benq even if I am not going to use the 3d function, only using 2d would that be better than both of the above?

Personally, I would go with the Dell. It offers a really nice quality image due to the IPS panel, wide viewing angles, 1920x1200 resolution and it handles motion pretty well (for games like TOR and Diablo it should be OK, for fast-paced shooters it wouldn't be ideal).

I wouldn't go with the 27in ASUS as it uses a TN panel on such a large screen - so the issues with viewing angle and colour banding inherent with TN technology are only increased.

As for the new 24in BenQ, I wouldn't go with it until a few independent in-depth reviews come out saying it is a good monitor and doesn't suffer from the problems of its predecessor.

I have a Dell 2711U and a new Samsung S27A750D and I personally think the Samsung for gaming kicks butt. Colours take a bit of faffing about with and I still do not think they are anywhere as good as the Dell but the smoothness for me has won me over.

thanks for the reply. wont 120hz on ips be highly noticable compared to 60hz of the dell?

I'm not quite sure what you mean. As far as I'm aware there are no commercially available 120Hz IPS monitors out there.

For fast-paced gaming 120Hz is certainly nicer than 60Hz, if you plan to do a lot of this then 120Hz is the way to go. However, just make sure you understand that the image quality of the TN 120Hz monitor won't be as good as the 60Hz IPS (in terms of colour accuracy and viewing angles).

And after re-reading post I do not think either monitor does 120Hz anyway? My bad.

I wouldn't suggest buying it until there are some really in-depth reviews that say it is a good monitor to go for. Based on the specs it looks ver nice, but the same could be said for the previous version and that had some big issues with it.
