So I've been playing the original GTA on Steam...

i still enjoy the top-down GTA's but there not as fun as they used to be.

the engine let it down:confused: how? first attempt on next gen consoles, was good if im honest - just look at the pattern Rockstar normally follows. gta 3 was good, then vice city just took the biscuit with how awesome it was and then we was treated to san andreas which is pretty much the fan favorite for the time being.

then just repeat same process on the nex gen of consoles we will get in the next few years with everyone posting how GTA 7 is not as good as GTA 6:rolleyes:

the LC map in GTA:IV is too small for planes, for what Rockstar wanted to do anyway. you will get planes in V (including a similar jet to the hydra)

you could put your phone on silent = fixed.

well i get bad FPS with GTA 4 if i dare to put any of the settings to high with shadows having the worst effect, i don't mind turning off night shadows i don't need them in the dark but day time shadows if i put them below 'high' then they flicker really bad so it must be high with other settings being lowered to compensate to get a more playable FPS, i have tryed this on 3 different graphics cards so far with a Q6600 cpu on all 3, those are X1950, GTS250 and HD6870, i got better performance with each upgrade but only a little, so its a bad engine!

it's not a bad engine but it's not a great engine either lol many problems but stilll and as for the graphics i dont know what to say...

i run it on max with a shed load of mods on a HD 4890 (not over clocked), and it runs smooth:confused:

that being said, they have enhanced the engine for V a little by the looks of things if the teaser video is anything to go by :p

Grand Theft Auto IV is the best Grand Theft Auto game.

GTA III / VC / SA were all highlights.

Saints Row is basically a poor attempt at Grand Theft Auto, with poor graphics and terrible humour, don't get me wrong ~some of the jokes are funny but most aren't. It's 'trying' too hard.

GTA 3 and VC were by far the best. SA was border line gay :p, who the **** want to work out and dress up in a video game, its should be all about the guns, fast cars and hookers!

I was going to argue every single point you made. Then I saw you support Sheffield Wednesday so fair play :) Not many of us around :D

EDIT: Did your sig change?

I think that part of what made VC and SA the best of the series was due to them being set in the past, as it is far easier to give a funny critique of the past than it is to do so of the present. Also the thing that made these two games great was the soundtrack that seemed to symbolise the period for me, and provided that little bit extra that was needed to turn two very good games into great games.

...and all I can think is where the **** did all of the fun disappear to in the later games?? it makes you realise that with GTA3-4 all of the fun has disappeared and the series has become more of a life of crime simulation.

The single player did take a more serious tone in IV, but the multi player is an absolute riot with the right people. :D I've spent a stupid amount of hours (excessive. :o) playing all aspects of IV on both the xbox and PC and loved every minute of it.
