considering Gelid Tranquillo

I have asked him to run IBT and he has took a screeny show with real temp 3.6 max 56c mine same real temp 71c

I just dont know why 15c difference.

Now when he removed the glass, he had the TIM all over the Glass(HS) and CPU. When I removed the Gelid to reapply the MX-3 I had the peaks but not the base (if you know what I mean.)

If that's with a Gelid I want his chip as those temps match my chip at 4.6GHz with a Silver Arrow..

There could be a number of reasons for the difference - voltage, case, fans, ambient room temp, but the votage is the obvious one to compare.

What voltage is CPUz reading when your both running IBT?

I have the Gellid Tranquillo rev2 in my new build which consists of a 2500k overclocked to 4.5ghz with a gigabyte z68ap-d3 mobo.

Idle temps are from 25-30 degrees across cores, and load temps from prime are in the region of 55-65.

Quite happy with it, installed easily aswell - I'd never installed a 3rd party cooler before and it went in nice and easily.

yes he is using a Gelid, as he recommended it. we both are 1.3v. Could it to be with other bios settings. To do with the phase settings.

If I reseat it again I will take a phone of them to show the TIM.

Nope, it's a chip/architecture thing - plus your clan mate has a real gem of chip (and i'm glad i put that caveat in my initial reply). It's hard enough comparing identical chips (as such) let alone totaly different chips.

Your voltage isn't ridiculously high but it's relatively high for a 4.4GHz clock (see my sig - but i have a gem) so your temps are not that surprising.

How is your clock set up - is it done automagically through a program or have you manually set it up yourself via the BIOS.

If it's the former then there's the possibilty that you could reduce your vCore for the exact same clock and reduce your temps.

i'll second this: exact same mobo, cpu.

I have the Gellid Tranquillo in that combo and insralled easy at 4.5 ghz. Recmmend this cooler.

Also have a gelid, happily cooling my 2500k @ 4.5Ghz. Max temp when being stressed by Prime95 is 69C.

Was a little awkward to get the fan on after screwing it in, but I'm terminally clumsy and awkward so most normal people won't have a problem!
