How much do you think this BMW would deprecate in 3 years?

Got a question for the holy grail of BMW knowledge [TW]Fox :)

Just got off the phone to sytner leicester who have been hounding me last few days and have come up with a 335i i quite like the sound off.

This is spec

08/58 plate 13000 miles

E93 335i M Sport Convertible N54 3.0
Automatic
Black Sapphire Metallic
Black Dakota leather
19" M Double-spoke style 225M alloy wheels
Wind deflector
Seat heating. front
USB audio interface
Navigation-system Professional
BMW Assist
BMW Assist online portal
Voice Control
Bluetooth phone prep + telematics
Loudspeaker system - BMW Business
Auto transmission M Sport leather steering

firstly would this be an LCI on a 58 plate? Also when did the CIC idrive come out?

The LCI was not until March 10.

All 3 series built after September 08 with pro Nav are CIC but most 58 and 09 plate cars were built before then and hung around so don't have it.

:( not hopefully then. Its not for sale till march as its a trade in.

and @ £23850 i would defo want the newer idrive system to even think about it

Sounds quite nice but thats still quite a lot of money and as you say for that sort of money I would want the new nav.

Also black on black would be a little boring the light interiors are very nice on a black or dark car.

I am not really sure that this thread is all about.

I mean either you want a 2 litre diesel or you want a 3 litre twin turbo petrol. It seems bizarre to one minute be posting 2 litre diesels then suddenly you've found a 335i thats almost as expensive as the 2 litre diesel. Now obviously the 2 litre diesel is a bizarre purchase at this sort of money but... I dunno. Just all seems a bit random really?

Some people don't know what they want, they just assume it makes sense to buy a 2 later diesel. He came here for advice and we pointed out that its wroth considering a bigger petrol engine so he seems to have taken our advice and is looking at a car with a proper engine.

This is 100% the answer. I will take you into my story :)

I had a mk4 2.5 mondeo which I loved. Ok it was an old man saloon but I brought it for 13k with only delivery miles (abit a year old per reg). I only do 5-7k a year so wasn't to bother about £80-£100 for a tank of fuel.

My mates all with there diesel engines kept going on your mad to spend all that money on fuel when they got a zillion miles per tank in a 1 series/ corsa etc etc horrid cars basically but surved them for what they wanted.

Think is I started to listen to them...and I sold my mondeo in November. It killed me to see it go, all be it I feel I got a good price.

If I could turn back time and have my mondeo back the I would in a shot!!!! I really regret selling him.

Then I started looking at 1.6 focus diesel, 10k and under a year old. I even est drove a few but I just hated not having the power on tap if I wanted it plus it was just "a boring car"

My old man then set me off looking at the original car in this thread, he is the type who buys a car brand new and get rids after 3 years. He has had a 330 clubsport, 330i touring, 2 e60 530d and currently a tdv8 range rover autobiography. Having driven all of them and had problems with all the bmw's I was always scared to buy anything older than 3 years or with quite a few miles on them.

It's only when I read these sort of forums I relies warrantys are not very expensive and if you pick well should be fine.

Cars are very personal things, they ALL lose money, all the cars I have posted up on this thread will be sold to someone. What I'm starting to realise is I have the money, not got commitments to much else and I might get hit by a low flying mono glider tomorrow so I just need to go for what makes me happy and blow caution to the wind

Ramble over lol. All wrote with the iPad so spelling could be abit...yer can't be arsed to read over and check :d

You can buy a 2.5T Titanium X Mk4 Mondeo for under £10k. If you really mean the above - do it.

Why spend £25k on a car if you'd be as happy with one thats far cheaper?

Because it wouldn't be my one if that makes any sense.

Apart from another mondeo a 3 series just seems the next step up, I've always liked them and in a position to be able to afford 1 for the first time.

Not really, no.

I was massively underwhelmed by my 3 Series. It was nice - very nice - but it didnt feel like a £20k car. This obviously taints my view of £20k+ 3 Series.

I'd think long and hard about whether you really want to whack £25,000 on a 3 Series - a car that will, during your ownership, be replaced anyway. It's a car thats been around since 2005 - its no longer fresh, new and funky.

What ever you do don't buy a diesel, doing that sort of mileage you will only save a couple of hundred quid a year.

Personally I think buying a 3 year old car with 30 to 45k on the clock is about the right compromise. It has done the bulk of the depreciation and will still feel quite new.

But I like to change my car every 2 years.

While I agree that 25k is too much to spend on a 3 series now, they are still fantastic cars. I paid 42500 euro for my first 335i and was very happy with it at the time.

I know you were not happy with the 335i but thats because it was the wrong car for you nothing else, for the money its a fantastic car and I don't think you will find a single car of that size which offers the same level of refinement, power and reasonable running costs.

In the same way that the 335i is wrong for me because I want a small car like a 135i you should have a F10 530i/535 when the prices come down a little.
