Cctv issue

I bought one of the storage solutions kit from ocuk today and all works ok except i cannot get it to record on motion detection. Ive set up other cctv before and its been obvious but i cant seem to get this one working,

Any ideas?

Do you have to set the zones on the screen before it will trigger the motion detection?

Well the instructions say naff all, i can highlight the screen but it goes red, this is usually ignore areas i.e trees etc

... as a last resort. I've tried painting the area in and its not still not working, guess I'll be calling their helpdesk monday. Also the iphone app doesnt want to connect either

yours looks more like what I've used before, I've posted on their fan page. Tried the other app on android and it doest display anything but neither does the other version that WAS working.. grrrr

have a similar one branded as "cop security'
Motion is under:
Device > Motion > Select the channel - ON, then set area. as far as I've been able to tell red is detect, then ok / apply to everything

Is there any advantage using these cameras over zoneminder? I was thinking about setting up home security and since I have a server running 24/7 I thought it would be good to try out zoneminder. It seems decent and I see no reason for buying these cameras when you can just get cheapo webcams.

Not a clue about the software, but a webcam will never get the image quality or low light performance of a "proper" camera. A webcam is intended to focus about 2 foot away from itself, a proper camera can focus 30-40 feet (dependant on lens).

this is really annoying now, their helpdesk do not answer emails, web requests or the phone or voice mails, tried OCUK and it just cuts me off after a few rings. This is very poor service....
