Also any chance you can explain why your new year varies in date compared to ours, if you counted every year as 365 days how come the western date of your new year varies?

It cycles round and matches the "regular" calendar every 19 years.

I'm in Beijing at the moment - fireworks going off all around us and it's only 3.20pm. I imagine that it's going to be crazy tonight! Lots of excellent food to look forward to though :D

I was in Beijing for new years in 2009, trying to walk from my hostel to a cashpoint was insane, fireworks going off on the pavement outside every shop. Good fun, but a little scary.
