I have a 4850 1GB that is becomming faulty. It is blue screening quite a lot now. I'm after replacing it, but I don't play games so I don't need anything meaty at all.

I watch a lot of TV/Movies through my computer so I want a card that would play a Full HD Movie smoothly on a 22" Display.

As cheap as possible would be great.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

What makes you think it's the graphics card thats causing the blue screens rather than other hardware or even software (drivers etc)?

So would this one do the trick then guys?

Would it actually perform better than my 4850?

Cheers

in games it wouldnt, desktop maybe yep
that a silent version or it got a little fan? go silent for desktop if u can, little fans are annoying

also windows8, ive noticed ati's new driver for this only works on series 6 or above, or its only avail for download for series 6 or above anyway

mebe they just trying to get ppl to upgrade :P

So with the 6450 Alongside 4GB DDR2 and an E6750 CPU, I'd be able to run Bluray/Full HD Movies smooth on a 22" display?

Yes, absolutely.

In fact, all of the heavy lifting is done by the graphics card so you could have a pentium 4 or Atom CPU and a 1080p Blu-ray would still play back smoothly.

This is the PSU inside my computer. I can't remember where I had it from, think it might have been from OcUK a couple of years ago.

Will it be good enough for the 6450?

Cheers

Aye, that should be fine - so long as it is still working OK.

The HD 6450 can only draw a maximum of 31 Watts, so it won't put much extra stress on it.

Why do people even bother to talk about the size of the monitor? It's the resolution that makes any difference.

Any add in card will be able to provide a decent 2d experience, though the radeons seem to offer good value/video outputs.

Wouldn't this one be better than the 6450 guys?

Cheers

I believe the GT 520 is pretty much just the equalent Nvidia card.

However, after reading this very in-depth HTPC graphics card review I would suggest instead of the HD 6450 or GT 520 the OP strongly considers the GT 430.

The prices of the GT 430 start at just over £40, though you may want to spend a few more quid and get a passively cooled version.
