5870 Cooler

Hi peeps,

I am looking for a new heatsink etc for my ATI 5870.

Current one is starting to struggle to keep it cool, even after I have re-applied thermal compound etc.

The only thing is, I can't seem to find any? OCUK has 1 but is not instock.

Are there any recommendations out there?

Screw that find a Zalman 3000. That crap ^ bends your card.

If you dont mind not going Xfire (May still need to if you got right board), then look at an Accelero Xtreme Plus series.

+1 for the Zalman.

It's relatively cheap and does a much better job than the standard cooler at cooling the GPU, memory and VRMs. The only negative is that it doesn't utilise automatic fan control, you have a dial (which is fairly clunky I might add) that controls the fan speed. Luckily it's pretty quiet so if you're running it on stock then the speed you have to run it at to keep it cool while running games isn't that noticeable when your PC is idle.

A vote here for an Arctic Cooling Acellero Twin Turbo II/Pro. Excellent coolers

Funny as the Shaman I have on my card doesn't bend it. It just cools the twangers off it silently. It's just large, as good coolers need to be. Small coolers need fast fans to compensate. Mind you it does take up four slots, which may be an issue for multiple card users.

Yep, the Accelero coolers are perhaps the best aftermarket air coolers available, they just have a habit of being quite pricey.
