My spec's are:
Intel i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz w/ Coolermaster TX3 Heatsink
ATI Radeon HD 5850
ASRock P67 Pro3 Motherboard
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
Seagate 500GB HDD
500W Corsair PSU
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Antec 300 Case

I don't know why but I seem to lag on pretty much every game I play! For example Fallout 3, ArmA II, MINECRAFT!, THE SIMS 3!...I shouldnt be lagging at all with any of these games?! I checked my FPS on Fallout 3 with Fraps and it said I was getting a solid 60FPS with ultra settings @ 1920x1080, but I was lagging. I did the same with The Sims 3. It said I was getting between 100-250FPS but I was lagging. I dont know whats wrong here :( Iv tried everything to try and fix the problem like updating the drivers for my GPU and patching my games but still no fix!! Has anyone else had this problem?

Please help!

Thanks

Check your graphics card using MSI afterburner and see what kind of activity it's doing while gaming. If the GPU usage is bouncing up and down then i would say it was a drivers issue.

Ok, Im downloading MSI afterburner now but its going to take a while......1 hour -.- my internet is being 'throttled' by SKY >.> What do I do if it is a drivers problem?

Thanks

What do you mean by lagging? Is this whilst online? If so I expect its your internet connection
With those sort of FPS you shoudlnt be seeing any issues Id of thought
Pretty sure Sky dont use a FUP cap to throttle like a lot of other providers BTW

If it's a drivers problem then i would recommend a clean install of the drivers you're currently using and update if new drivers are available.

Are you using the latest drivers?

If drivers don't fix this then i would recommend a clean install of windows and drivers for all of your components.

I remember having a similiar problem with lagging in all games when i switched from ATi to Nvidia. A clean install of windows fixed this for me but it wasn't a big issue since i keep all my games and software on a seperate drive.

I doubt it's internet lag because he's getting the same issues in SIMS 3!

Yeah, I switched from Nvidia to ATI though but iv done a clean install of windows so that didnt fix it :/ i might just reformat my harddrive and do another clean install of windows and see what happens then :)

Let me know how you get on, i'm sure it should fix it.

Did you use Drivercleaner to clean out the Nvidia drivers?

That's good, avoid drivercleaner. It can sometimes (not always though) delete important windows system files which can cause lockups and graphics issues.

Ok, last night I reformatted my harddrive but now I cant install AMD catalyst! It starts but always freezes mid-way through the process. Any ideas how to fix this? >.>

Thanks

How odd. have you installed anything else? Is it just this that won't install? may be worth re downloading it in case it didn't download properly or something.

Yeah, annoying though. Maybe someone else has some ideas!? Also, check the graphics card is in properly, check all power cables. Just give it another general check to be sure.
