Thinking of getting a tattoo.

There are at least four different magazines in WHSmith on this topic, go have a flick through them.
Although what anybody finds to say of the subject baffles me.

It's odd that all the ones you see in pictures or on LA ink look great but nobody in real life ever gets one of those, they all go for the saddest, most tedious images imaginable. Yeh, Celtic ring, that's great, I've never seen that before, yawn...

Why does nobody ever have a good one?

Oh dear god - so many of those people are truely ****** up. What the hell posesses someone to split their tongue, mutilate their penis or hang themselves with fish hooks?

Its really not art, its mutilation and the kind of thing sicko's do to their victims before raping and killing them, except these people do it repeatedly for fun???

My mate has a split tongue, his misses loves it lol.

BTW, have you seen that guy with the all-over-body tattoo to make him look like a snake? there's another guy who looks like a tiger lol

Wes, there are some serious PS artists on here. Is it worth posting a topless picture of yourself so people can give you some designs and you can simultaneously see what it would look like on you?

Took me over 10 years to finally decide on what i wanted. I always had the same theme in mind, but could never really picture the final thing, and i'm so crap at art i can't even draw the curtains (ba doom tisshh!)
So, i had to rely on others to visualise for me.
Had it about 15 months now (at the age of 40) and god do i love it.
The thing about tatts for me, is that it HAS to mean something. It's for life so it must mean something to me.
Some people just use their bodies as doodle boards. Fair enough its their choice.
Wes your first tatt and you want it to cover most of your upper body?
Brave......and may i say a little naieve? Start small dude, you may not even be able to withstand the pain/discomfort that goes with having a tattoo.

Think about it dude, long and hard. You get the right one, you'll never regret it, but the wrong one?......oh my......bad days!

Yeah good idea Robbie. I have a lot of thoughts and would definitely like to help out with this.

It's been said in here a few times but you really need to know what you want. I planned mine for about 3 years prior to getting them done (partly because I was under age, but shh).

Take this advice otherwise you could end up under age and in the spur or a moment somehow end up with a superman tattoo on your shoulder.......

Don't most decent parlours frown on giving full sleeves to kids who don't have (a) any idea what they want and (b) no previous tattoos? OP, you want a load of work for someone who has had no work and no apparent goals. Most strange.

My mate has Deadpool and Wolverine on one arm, and Spiderman on the other!

Haha that does sound pretty cool, i just have the logo. Needs touching up a little as its 8 years old now and the ink work wasn't all that good but its nothing i regret, reminds me of been young and care free!

Whenever someone shows there new tribal tattoo off at work I lol in there face.

"i lol in their face'

Does anyone else not realise how retarded it sounds using 'lol' instead of say 'laugh'?

some tribal tatts look good, but nowadays its the equivalent of the 'tramp stamp' for women. Ya know, the swirly crap on their lower back?

If you don't know 100% what you want, don't get a tattoo, for gods sake don't take suggestions.

This goes 1,000,000 x for sleeves.

Just be SURE, I got a tattoo when I was 16 with a mates birth certificate.

It's some nice Japanese lettering in front of waves, but after having more work done to my back, I want to get it covered, as It just reminds me of a bad period in my life which after 11 years I'd rather forget.

As for tattoos of pets, there a shed loads of animal specialist artists about. Place I go to must do at least 3-4 dog tattoos a week.
