Don't wait for your Dad to be on a hospital bed to tell him you love him.

It's very easy not to think about this until things take a turn for the worse. My father was just taken into intensive care for heart surgery, it was all very sudden and completely unexpected.

Basically all I'm saying is for those of us lucky enough to have fathers, don't take their presence for granted.

I'll echo this. My father passed away on the 6th of this month and it's been a very sad time. Remember, you only have one set of parents. They probably gave and taught you so much, so let them know what they mean to you.

Hope he's alright samir!

Men dont tell other men that they love them.

Women do this.

Its like an unwritten rule. Unless you fall out, your family already know you love them.

I had a scare a few years ago where my father had some heart complications, and seeing him hooked up to all sorts of monitors, looking frail, weak and suddenly very old. Fortunately he's back in shape and in good health, but I cannot echo or agree with those words strongly enough.

Hope he pulls through Samir :)

I'm assuming you're going through or gone thru something painful recently with your dad. Its not easy, it does get easier with time but yes - make the most of the time you have with the people who actually matter.

I hope your Dad is ok Samir.

I can't echo your sentiment however......my relationship with my parents, or rather lack of one, would make me hypocritical.

You are lucky that you have parents who deserve the title, and you and your family have pur best wishes.

My old man had an accident recently, fairly bad burns, pretty much mended now but it was a hell of a shock at the time.

I can only echo the sentiments above, don't wait so long you run out of time.

I feel sorry for you if that's how you REALLY feel.

Couldn't agree more..

Seriously though, your spot on. Samir and wish you and your family well. I don't get on at all with my father abut I can't bring myself to say it because he has the same old fashioned attitude as some here.

It's a different story with my son. At nearly 17, he always says " luv ya old man" and gives me a hug. I hope that never changes because as you said, you never know what's round the corner.

No need!

My stepdad and my real father both know that I care about them.

Unless your dad has been a complete ******* to you or you dont know who he is why would you not love them?

Its implied for me. Like your mother, what reason would you have NOT to love her? She knows you love her, you know she loves you.

I would feel pretty weird saying "I love you" to my stepdad, its bad enough saying that stuff to the GF let alone another man!

A big thumbs up for those sentiments. Those few words can have such a positive impact. Don’t put off seeing them either and if you can’t just pick up the phone and say a few words.

I hope your father has a speedy recovery. All the best to you and your family.

It's sad that you can't show affection to the ones that you love. They'd appreciate it greatly.

Always give my dad a hug when I see him, same with my sister, brother and Mum. never say "I love you" but do say love ya every so often, normally when I am after something!

I tell my 2 year old I love him every single morning as I leave for work and each night when he goes to sleep, having known someone who lost their parent very suddenly I make sure he knows. I plan to keep it up till he leaves home or punches me.

You only have one family appreciate them. Unless they are proper twits and in that case I totally understand!
