I am sorry if this thread exists if so could you link it for me??
Anyway if not here are mine in no particular order

1. Linwood Barclay
2. Sophie Kinsella
3. Mark Heddon
4. Cecelia Ahern
5. Jane Green or Harlan Coben...cant decicde :D

Not in order and only 4, I need to find more authors I like.

Lee child
Mathew Rielly
Andy remic
Jack Higgins

Can you tell, I don't like complicated story lines, needs to be macho hero main character and be the main character in all books.

In order:
1. George R.R Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire is imo, best book series ever wrote.)
2. Stieg Larsson (The Millennium Trilogy - Rapidly ascended to second in my list)
3. Darren Shan (The Demonta - Darren Shan (Books about an imaginary version of him))
4. J.K Rowling (Harry Potter)
5. J R.R Tolkien (The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings)

Never read much as a child, in fact I can only remember finishing 3 book series. I was really fussy when it came to books, had to be something which really hooked me.

So in order I have
- Robert Muchamore - Cherub Series
- Anthony Horowitz - Alex Rider Series
- JQ Rowling - Harry Potter

Bernard Cornwell
Lee Child
P G Wodehouse

& 2 from
George R R Martin
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Andy McNab
Tom Clancy

I am waiting to start reading Bernard Cornwell, just cant seem to get the first Sharpe book in any charity shops around me

My top 5 favourite authors:

  1. Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game, amongst many others)
  2. Trudi Canavan (The Magicians Guild Trilogy)
  3. Alan Dean Foster (Author of many Star Wars books)
  4. James Herbert (The Rats & many other brilliant horror stories)
  5. Stephen King (Though admittedly his last few books have been pretty poor imo)

// Edit - I also have to include the late, great Arthur C Clark in this. The man was not only a phenomenal author but a true visionary and genius. :)

What about one of the other series? I'd recommend the Warlord trilogy about 'king' Arthur which starts with The Winter King.

My five:
Iain (M) Banks
Terry Pratchett
Sergei Lukyanenko
Alan Moore
Joh Le Carre
