Hello friends

I recently find out my i7 940 runs @ 1.93mhz but originally use to run at the

stock speed off 2.93mhz funny enough my ram sticks use to runs @ 1066mhz

now runs @532mhz.

Do you have any ideas what can couse this performance drop??

thanks in advance.

just stress the cpu with prime95 and it will switch to full speed, its power saving/idle mode, look in spd system memory multiplier to set ram speed to whats printed on ram,in cpu-z it will show ram at 533mhz which you have to double to get 1066mhz ect

It's speedstep. Underclocks/volts the CPU when idle. It's normal. When the CPU is being used then it will run back on max speeds.

As for the RAM, it's DDR (Double Dual Rate) so 533*2 = 1066. Nothing is wrong with your system :p.
